Product Features

The DTX522K Electronic Drum Set by features the DTX-PAD snare with newly developed tom pads, exclusive 3-zone hi-hat and cymbal pads, plus the incredible sounds and features of the DTX502 module in an affordable kit configuration.

Utilizing the DTX-PAD snare for superior stick feel, you can play the head, open rimshot, and closed rimshot voices in each of the three zones for authentic snare expression. This model also features 3-zone operation for the ride, crash and hi-hat. The drums and percussion voices in the new DTX502 module lets you sound your absolute best, and with the advanced practice tools and easy song recorder you will be getting better all the time. The USB port allows control over VSTi software and lets you import custom wave files.

Using proprietary laser technology to analyze drum strokes, precisely tuned the trigger settings on the DTX502 series resulting in a more natural feeling with laser accuracy. You also get advanced features from higher end models like cymbal muting, natural cymbal swells, and smoother snare drumrolls so the kits respond to every nuance of your playing, and 3-Zone hi-hat technology when using the PCY100 as a hi-hat pad.

The DTX522K also features the professional 3-zone cymbal pads, which can express a different sound in each of the cup, bow and edge zones. These cymbals have a good stick feel and low acoustic noise, which is essential for electronic drums when used for private practice. In addition to a very natural swaying motion, they also have the "choke" function 360-degrees around the edge. You can even mute the cymbal before striking it - a DTX exclusive feature!

New drum training functions are included to challenge you no matter your current skill level every time you practice. Working with these tools will help you improve the most important skills for drumming from rhythmic timing to pad accuracy and endurance. The system will even generate a score so you can track your progress as you improve.

The DTX502 module can be expanded with four additional pads or triggers. Pad upgrades let you build your dream kit as your skills improve. USB connectivity lets you connect to a PC.

I bought this kit over a Roland mainly because on paper, you got more bang for your buck. It came to a little over $1200 CAD.

I was searching and searching like crazy to find reviews for this kit online, but rest assured that you're getting an incredibly sounding, solid built drum kit. The preset kits sound amazing after a little tweaking and most of the play along songs are fun to jam to. I love the built in recording button.

The ONLY thing I've found to be a little frustrating is that sometimes the cymbals have issues determining whether you are playing the bow or bell of the cymbal, and muting is not always 100% accurate.

As I said, if you want to get an insane amount of features and you're a novice to experienced musician, look no further than any of the kits from the DTX500K series.

I do not regret this purchase one bit.

I had the DTXplorer that had a bit less functionality, but was still a great kit. Had it for four years originally as a home kit. It made it's way to gigs and the sound was solid. A stident of mine had this kit and I knew it had to be mine one day. 1) Snare head is awesome with a rim for click option and it's response is MUCH better then the DTXplorer 2) You can choke these cymbals and get three different sounds out of them (depending on the setting) 3) It's nice having a bell again on a cymbal :) 4) Many of the drum sounds sound eq-ed already - and there are new sounds to this set 5) The hi hat acts more like a hit in it's feel & response as opposed to the previous which was a rubber head like the rest of the drums 6) Where there was around 10 custom set options there are now 50. This set was worth every penny and it has it's maiden gig voyage next week - can't wait!

.After going through 4 Simmons electronic drum sets, we finally broke down and purchased a . So glad we did!
Yamaha DTX522K Electronic Drum Set
.Great kit. Using in home studio where myself and other visiting guitar and bass players need a basic kit to lay percussion track down. Even the few drummers I've had up really appreciate the simplicity and versatility of this kit.....as much as drummers can appreciate "electronic" kits! The control module is very simple to use. You can scroll through all settings and make adjustments in seconds and keep on playing. JUST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE or ORDER foot pedal for kick drum!!!!

.I have a acoustic pearl vision birch set but don't get to play them because I have a wife. so I got myself and early Christmas gift and I love them. Yes there is a little different feel to them, especially the hi hat. But over all great buy.

.I use this set in my studio as a trigger to the superior drum software in pro tools and studio one 3.0.
I was frustrated when I first bought this set because I thought that with usb it would cut off in 30 mins if it sat still too long but all I had to do was disable the timer and problem solved. I use solely for recording live feeling drums. The presets are good, but if you want to control individual drums separately you have to set up the midi drivers for the dtx to record data, otherwise you're just gonna record audio files that cannot be separated . With that being said I love this set, it 's good for live shows and works excellent for studio sessions. I would recommend it to my friends....

.After doing some research found this to be a great buy. The downside is the kick pedal loosens up during use and has now busted. Pot metal parts in the pedal break easily.
Aside from having to get a better pedal this is a good deal for someone needing to get a good sound and have adjustable sounds from each piece.

.The drum set sounds better then what we expected and is very responsive. I read reviews of all the models and this set had good reviews but it is better than what we all expected. awesome addition to the band.
