Product Features

Derived from 's FS800 which has a solid spruce top and nato/okume back and sides, the FSX800C adds a cutaway body and 's proprietary under-saddle piezo pickup and System 66 analog preamp to ensure a solid, plugged-in performance.

The FS model body is 10 mm slimmer than that of the FG body, offering increased comfort and playability with no loss of volume or bass. Having a body that is easier to hold makes the FS more appealing to beginners and smaller guitarists, including female players. In addition, the smaller dimensions and lower propensity to feedback make FS guitars ideal for stage use.

Case sold separately.

Newly Developed Scalloped Bracing
Today's FG models have a louder and stronger sound in the low- to mid-ranges thanks to cutting-edge acoustic analysis technology developed by the R&D Division. ’s engineers have achieved this sound by utilizing analysis and simulation to arrive at the best bracing design without depending on tradition or guesswork. This analysis led to the development of an enhanced scalloped bracing pattern that maintains the durability of the top board while bringing out the most sound the FSX800C has to offer.

System 66
System 66 feature an under-saddle piezo pickup developed by . Controls include a 3-band EQ, an adjustable mid-range frequency control and a precision chromatic tuner for optimum sound tailoring. The system is powered by easy to obtain AA-size batteries that provide a stable power supply for improved sound quality.

Although I've played electric for over 5 years, I've yet to own an acoustic guitar. After a lot of research and demoing a dozen guitars at the store, I bought this one.

Fit and finish -
Overall excellent. The neck is smooth and very playable. Profile is just thick enough to provide support without compromising movement around the fretboard. No sharp edges or uneven finish. My only complaint is the somewhat fake-looking veneer on the burst finish. But it's a solid top, so not a lot to complain about.

Unplugged sound:
Warm and refined sound, slightly mellow. Not a ton of projection or depth, but it's also not a dreadnaught. I wouldn't say the sound blew me away, but it's pleasant and doesn't suffer from a brittle, treble-heavy sound like some cheap acoustics.

Electronics:
Hands down the best I've heard in this price range. Compared to the Seagulls and Ovations I've used, this guitar sounds excellent through an amp or straight into an interface. Much fuller, warmer, and 3-dimensional. The preamp offers a full range of EQ options, and the tuner is very accurate. It also uses AA batteries, which I prefer to 9 volt since I'm more likely to have them.

I don't usually write such detailed reviews, but this guitar impressed me enough to make the effort. I own 4 electric guitars, and I can't put this down lately. Definitely recommended.

I have been playing for about 10 years. I have owned a few acoustics, this is the best sounding one for a reasonable price point I have found. All of the friends I play with are amazed at the sound of this guitar, whether plugged in or not.
