When I bought my DAW I first used a cheap M-Audio interface that had no latency but didn't have a great mic pre-amp. I later upgraded to a Scarlett 18i20, and while it sounded better, it had HORRIBLE latency. No matter what I did it was nothing but trouble. I researched to no end and finally found an engineer to recommended using a mixer.
I had researched the MG12XU 12-Channel Mixer because I wanted to create a live performance outfit, and so since I needed a mixer to reduce latency, and the was inexpensive and had good reviews, I bought it.
I can't believe how much better it sounds. One of the issues with the Scarlett was lack of compression in the input signal chain prior to the sound card. The dynamics were so great it was hard to get a good sound. The onboard compressors in the really help control the sound and, combined with the fantastic pre-amps, I am stunned by the difference in the quality of sound I get on acoustic guitars and vocals. My microphones all sound 10x better than they did before.
As for latency...WHAT LATENCY? It is amazing.

.... rugged (metal case), design modernized since last version (the old design was boring, the new design is sleek), sliders/knobs/buttons are high-quality with perfect resistance, on-board effects are excellent (although I already have effects in place pre-mixer, but it's great knowing I have an on-board Plan B option), love the combo jacks, love the on-board compression, love that it has USB, love the angled panel, and love seeing the brand imprinted on it ... that tells me it'll be up and running for a long time ... I give it an 11 on the 10-scale!

.Unit is whisper quiet and all controls are of good quality and laid out well. My only minor complaint is the limited connectivity of outboard effects, EQ etc. Other than that, great item

.Good sounding low noise mix board for the pro or amateur. You do need to review the instructions that come with the unit to get it to function properly. It took about 1/2 an hour and this unit was working hard in the studio without a glitch. The built in effects are a real plus, but again you must read the instructions to get them to function properly. Construction is top shelf and the body is shaped to insure the unit does not over heat.

.Just wish I had bought the 16 channel. Love all the bells and whistles. Tremendous control, all kinds of settings. Use it in jams.

.MGs are the best cheap mixers around!!!!

.I was using a zed10fx with my Bose L1s. But it sounded a little dull to me. So after some research I bit the bullet and bought the MG12XU,

Setup was a snap. Using the USB input and an XLR output to the Bose and the sound was clear and punchy, added my SHURE PG58 Microphone and tried a karaoke song, the one knob compression is everything I'd heard. Within seconds I had adjusted the vocals to a fantastic tone. Since I DJ as a karaoke host I must say this mixer with built in effects will be a real asset.

.I am using this mixer home musical recording as well as for hosting Karaoke performances. It is very versatile and even allows for tuning those karaoke singers voices to correct for their singing off key and adding chorus harmonies to improved their performances.

.I'm using this to send instruments and vocals and percussion to a JBL EON One, tried it a couple times now and it sounds great and so easy and intuitive. I haven't even looked at the manual yet, I will, I'm sure, when I have a minute. Clean sound , great effects, the compression works niceyl, everything just sounds great. I use a small PA for my regular small restaurant gigs and am happy with their sound and this mixer is right there with clean great sound. the effects are just perfect too.
