We would all love a pre-war Gibson, few of us are so lucky. I am a 39 year old women and have played banjo since I was 11 years old. I gradually upgraded and stopped 16 years ago with my Washburn B16. My father in law plays a pre war Gibson, one of 6 like it ever made, It is the most beautiful banjo I have ever played. My point is that I have played some fantastic banjos. I am positive that my Washburn is the best for the price. Sweet action and sound, also holds it's tuning very well. A good solid instrument. You could pay a thousand more and not come out any better. I will never replace my Washburn unless my father in law gives me his :) Keep Pick'en.Washburn B16 Banjo
.Beautiful instrument, Construction, detail and components of this banjo are great. Its a bit heavy due to the bell brass tone ring used, however that is why it sounds so great. I did switch to a Snuffy Smith intonated bridge, you should consider something similar. I did need to get it professionally set-up, truss rod ajd. fret dressing to allow lowering the action for ease of playing up around the 10th fret. A must for any new instrument that hasn't had the hands of a good luthier on it. Luthier I used was impressed too. No regrets. This is my 2nd banjo for bluegrass and Celtic music. .This is my first banjo so I don't have any basis to compare to others. I researched and based on the positive reviews here and other places, I decided to buy. I wanted to get a banjo that would be suitable to learn on and wouldn't be 'out-grown' as my skills progressed. I think I hit the jackpot with this one. It arrived in excellent condition and with watching a few videos online about bridge setup/positioning, I found the bridge into the ideal location in no time. It took a few weeks of playing to get it to stay in tune (strings stretching), but now it holds its tune very well. The spikes for the 5th string are great! I was very excited when I found out that I didn't have to purchase a separate capo for the 5th string. After playing for several months, I highly recommend this banjo and look forward to years of enjoyment.

.Arrived pristine but not set up. I've temporarily mounted the bridge and will have a luthier do the full set up. The D string buzzes/mutes on the first and second frets but I'll have the luthier work that also. Hefty banjo but the tone justifies it! I'm looking forward to learning and playing lots more!

.This is a great banjo. The inlay is a beautiful pattern. The chrome hardware is fantastic. The tone of the banjo is the best part. I wouldnt care to play on stage with this banjo. It has a very professional and vibrant tone. It came ready to play straight out of the box. I would recommend this banjo to anyone.

.Banjo is clean, sound quality is great for bluegrass,it would be nice to have it lighter,but that would hurt the sound . so it has to be what it is, a good banjo.at any price.
I have several Banjo's from recording King to custom built but the sound i was looking for is the Washburn B16, it is crisp, clean, and heavy. the neck is smooth the finish is good, i did have a spot of glue about the size of a button,it pollished off and thats OK. a very playable instrument out of the box, you should be able to set this up yourself,i did put on a new bridge,but not because i had to because i wanted a crisper sound and just a bridge will do that.I like it, i play it, i've played it in some bluegrass festivals, it stays in tune, and is easy to play.

.I had been looking at the B-16 for a while and when I saw this one on sale as a restock I ordered it right away. When it came, it was not a B-16. When I called about it the staff was extremely helpful and the exchange was handled quickly. When I received the replacement, I took it out and set up the bridge and started playing right away. The sound is great, bright full and lots of sustain. It is a little touchy to keep in tune. After a couple of weeks the B string started to buzz on the first fret. Also, one of the retaining screws for the resonator wouldn't tighten and it took a lot of fiddling to make it tight. That said, I really like the banjo and this will be my last. I picked up and played my old banjo the other day and the sound was nowhere as good as the B-16. The banjo is heavy and I find that standing for long to play is very tiring.
