usually I hate anything to do with super strats as I'm a flying V or something more extreme shaped but for the price and so forth its hard to do any better than this. Pro series guitars are usually made in Japan so the quality is on par with American made. I'm an aspriing luthier and can tell you more about this guitar what you'll like and what you'll not like about it. It is a very diverse sounding guitar with a lot of life to the tone whether you're a guitar shredder , classic rock to metal this is all around for it and with no lifeless EMG pickups I'm hoping that fad is finally over.first what I like about it
I've played wizard to 7 string necks so thick you'd swear someone sawed a baswball bat in half and everything about the neck is great. You've got some unique looking inlays , it's 25.5 scale so you can tune slightly lower. A locking nut is a nice touch and a regular in line headstock. But how jackson stands out is the compound raidus on the frets which in laymen terms means you can bend notes further. People like compound raidus so much even Gibson is doing it now. The fretboard is ebony too this goes great with the color of the guitar and is a very popular wood for metal players. Forgot if this guitar had a bound to the neck fretboard but if it does its a perfect neck for the every day player to pros.
its neckthrough or set thru , not bolt on like the older pro series jacksons and made of real woods not basswood like those overpriced toy guitars Ibanez makes.
seymour dundan pickups , the JB is like a passive 81 with hair line differences and the 59s a classic that pretty much made the comapnies name based off of a 1959 gibson les paul pickup.Since the pickups are bolted in the sustain of this guitar will be incredible.
its made of alder which is a diverse wood used by bands such as Death to Yngwie Malmsteen to even classic rock guys like David Gilmour or Eric Clapton or Hendrix.
the look is excellent
basic controls and strap locks are a nice touch so you won't drop your 1000$+ investment.
ok what don't I like
the tuners , but they are easily switched to Sperzel , Grover , Schaller..ect
the floyd rose isn't BAD the special is an in between bridge , its based off of the original made in germany except the saddles and block but those can be switched. If you've got money to burn a floyd rose original pro I suggest with a brass block upgrade from an after market site
the shape but I've already established I'm not a strat guy , but like I've said before I highly recommend this guitar to anyone saving up for their first real guitar or looking for something new. If you don't know floyd roses google all you can about them or go to youtube and you'll be a pro in no time.
.I got this guitar after buying the King V Version of the Pro Series. I was so impressed with the Speed Neck on the V, it only made sense to get the Soloist body version in the Sl2 pro.
In my 25 yrs of playing, I've always thought of Jackson as a Metal oriented guitar because they sound so great distorted. However when you look at the Tone Woods, you'll see a lot of similarity to the Fender Strat.
This axe has an Alder Body and Maple Neck like Strats do, to give you a focused tone. But here you get an Ebony fingerboard vs maple or rosewood. Ebony gives you a more percussive attack on tone thats just sweet. And its Neck through construction with a heel thats so countoured you have monster room and comfort to play up to the high E and bend all the way with no worries. And a LOT of Sustain. It's really a beauty to play.
Also the dark tones the Seymour Duncans provide make this guitar have a really nice low end. Which makes you wonder if its really Alder or maybe mahogany. Compared side by side with my Gibson Les Paul Future with 57 Classics, this one has a richer, and rounder Clean tone. You have to hear it to believe it. And distorted, the Paul is actually brighter in a side by side comparison. I was Shocked.

This is Well worth the Money. A super Strat, yes but more than that, a Superb Instrument.
.This guitar surpassed all of my expectations with room to spare. Anybody worrying about the Soloist being crafted in Indonesia now instead of Japan should worry no longer. This thing is very well made. Neck is spot on, fretwork and trim superb. Practically plays itself. Top notch manufacturing. I'm absolutely impressed.
I've owned and played Japanese made Jacksons for nearly 20 years. This one holds its own and I personally think its even a bit better. It just feels perfect. The tone and sustain this guitar has is fantastic. The Floyd is rock solid as expected, solidly staying in tune and I only use Seymour Duncans.
I ordered the Quicksilver finish and it is so sharp and clean, it's like a well sharpened blade. You gotta see it up close. A sparkling silver bullet in my thrash metal arsenal. The aluminoid piranha inlays match up really well with the Quicksilver too.
Mine came with the "Jackson" logo in black on the headstock, not in white like the photo here shows. I actually prefer the black as it stands out against the silver better to me.
Guitar came perfectly set up. Action is awesome, intonation spot on, it was even nearly in perfect tune out of the box. If only it shipped with a case, but alas most guitars seem to be shipping without one these days. Oh well. I'm floored with this axe, the best Jackson I've ever owned.
.This guitar is American made quality but half the price. I could have purchased a American made SL2H but I was turned away because of the price. I have tried many American made Jackson's Japanese Jackson's etc. They both play just as good. This guitar may not be made in Japan but the Quality control is just as hood. I put this guitar on par with the SL2H. Same exact specs except the aluminoid inlays may not be M.O.P. to be honest they are so small and the Ebony Fretboard hides them so it doesn't even matter. It looks like a straight up ebony fretboard with out giant shakedown inlays so it makes you look more of a shredder when you play
on it. The specs are amazing. Honestly when I first got it maybe one or two strings were slightly out of tune. Quality control is amazing! No problems with it out of the box everything is perfect. I lucked out and got the black Jackson lettering on the headstock instead of white blending in with the quick Silver. The older modles I believe had the black lettering. I swear this guitar is a shred machine. My favorite guitar at the moment I have it high up on a petalstill will my ESP horizon. Both just as good ;). I love the 59 it is amazing! The JB is decent but its made for a Rosewood version of this guitar. I just bought a Seymour Duncan Black Winter trembucker to replace my JB. dont get me wrong the JB is amazing but I've for one been dying to try out this new Scandinavian pickup a plus its more heavier and harmonics etc. Just amazing metal pickup. To each its own. I give this guitar 5 stars. I would recommend anyone who doesn't want to dish over $2k to buy this because it is just as good! Love the toggle switch and the original floyd rose made in Korea. Dont be racist! Same as the Germany version. Just like this guitar made in Indonesia over America. The company is quality. Go buy one ;) I bought quick silver because it is the most apappealing to me. DefiaNtly one of the best purchases ever!

I've been very pleased with the Jackson SL2. From a playability standpoint, the neck is outstanding - very fast and easy to play. Chords are comfortable to play near the nut, and (as one might expect with a super strat) I have no issues accessing the higher frets for lead work. Tonally, I'm a fan of the JB and '59 pickup combination. The Seymour Duncans sound great under high gain and the clean tones are quite pleasant as well. A lot of comparable guitars come stock with EMG's (which definitely have their place) but I think you get more tonal diversity and a well-rounded sound out of the passive pickups.The hardware on the guitar is good quality, and the tuning stability of the made in Korea Floyd Rose 1000 tremolo (not to be confused with the special, which uses different materials) has been rock solid so far. If I run into issues down the road I'll upgrade to a Schaller. This Jackson isn't terribly heavy, and it's comfortable to play sitting and standing. It feels quite sturdy. This is a great guitar for its price point.

.I am a tone freak, I am not a metal head(not as much as I used to be anyways) so I was skeptical about dropping a grand on another Jackson superstrat but I am glad I did. This guitar is not only a screaming machine while playing heavy riffs but on clean and with slight crunch through my DSL15h, well you don't get much closer to heaven. The ebony fret board gives it a nice bite on the attack and the overall slim body makes chords cut through the mix. I have 2 other very capable Jackson's and two Fenders. This is a very versatile guitar, capable of playing anything from blues to country to metal. Though I was disappointed with the fret buzz on the high and low e string(all my Jackson came with horrible buzz) the dimarzios I threw in it make it a perfect music machine. in summary you cant go wrong with this guitar
