I use this for teaching (I use my expensive guitars for gigging). This replaces an Ibanez RG-120 which I decided had too flat of a neck. It also largely replaces a Dean Vendetta who's neck I like better.

The frets are nice, the neck is fast, and the guitar rests comfortably against me.

Very nice guitar for this price range.

The red finish that is currently displayed (as of 4-11-14) is no longer stocked! The guitar I got is black around the edges like this one:

.First of all MF shipped this guitar in record time. I really appreciated not having to wait long for it. The Fit and finish on this guitar is really good. Nice neck binding, paint is vivid and very attractive. Nice even clear coat and the hardware is pretty good. I could find no real flaws. Action was low and buzz free out of the box. Overall a very good set-up. The only con is the pups are not really on par with any of the standard high gain pups like the Duncan JB or Dimarzio Super Distortion. This is to be expected at this price point. I just wish Jackson would bring back the vintage J90C pups from the 80's. That was a quality stock pup. I will be replacing the pickups in this beauty with a Super Distortion and Evo combo. If you get this guitar as a beginner, it will certainly sound good to you as the mid and high ranges sound great with good sustain. The only problem with these type of pups is the lower register is a little loose or buzzy and lacks the punch of more expensive pickups. Still this guitar is alot of bang for your buck. I would certainly buy another if this was lost, stolen or broken. You just cannot go wrong for the price.

.I got this guitar on a Friday afternoon and after taking it out of the box and playing for a few minutes, took it right to my weekend gig. Played it both nights and it kicked. Stays in tune, built really well, looks-feels- and sounds great. I would most definitely recommend if you are looking for a nice sounding high output guitar.

.I bought this guitar for the body and neck only. I replaced all the electronics wits cts pots, and a crl blade switch, added a second volume knob, put some Seymour Duncan Black Winter's in it, along with a graphtech nut and some planet waves locking tuners. Now this thing is a beast. Very low action, no fret buzz.

If you're looking for a project building base, or if this is your first guitar. It's a steal! The pickups although Jackson branded don't sound all that bad, not anywhere near top of the line, but very usable. The one really negative thing I have to say is the assembly was trash. The original nut was glued on incorrectly and was a pain to file down and replace, and the bridge pickup cradle was slightly overtightened and cracked a little.

This guitar plays well enough, but had some cosmetic issues with the body finish near the neck area. Didn't want to send it back because I had a good straight neck on it and good fret work. Other than that it's a very playable guitar. Will be putting a Seymour Duncan JB humbucker in though because the pickups are a little muddy.

Played great right out the Box. I did one mod. I removed the tone control and moved the volume to where the tone was and plugged the hole left by the volume pot. I do not like any controls in the picking path. This also gave me better access to the pickup switch.

.I got this mainly to practice with but ended up gigging it in small venues, I changed every bit of electronics and replaced the the pickups (the only weak point in my book) with Seymour Duncan blackouts. It's very light weight and comfortable, neck is amazing, had some fret buzz and fretboard was a little gritty but thats to be expected before professional setup; after my setup and electronics swaps it stays in tune for what feels like ever. I actually prefer this over my schecter Damien platinum and Gibson sg. Very much recommend to anyone whether new or experienced. I can't specify on many tones other than metal and hard rock but does those quite well.

.I put 5 stars because of the price and the quality of the neck construction.

Lets start with the bad. Out of the box its not great. frets have the gritty feel to them some sharp tangs.

But once you set it up (fret burr removal, polish frets/dress, setup pickup pole, re-slot the nut). Its an awesome guitar for the price. They nailed the jackson neck profile which is what jacksons are known for. The pickups are made by Belcat so thats a plus!

.I love this guitar. I bought it to use for practicing.
I have a Gibson Les Paul Studio, but didn't think I should use it to practice.
This Jackson guitar is much lighter and very easy to play.

.The red color in the pic above is not the color that the guitar comes in. It comes in a dark red with black outline which looks far better than the red pic up above!!!!
