In this price range, you're not going to find much better. It will require some upkeep for proper gigging shape, but it's a beautiful looking bass with a solid sound. Buy yourself some straplocks or a locking strap, a good brand of strings, and you've got an excellent setup.
The pickups sound great (though I prefer dual volume to volume-fader controls), the tuners and bridge are very good at keeping you in tune even if you pound the strings to death as I occasionally do when playing in a percussive, Les Claypool style. The onboard preamp is good for a bit of tone shaping, but if you've already got a good sound running at your amp, you can leave it flat. If your amp has less control available (my Crate practice amp is very minimal), it can be very helpful.
The bass looks much more attractive in real life than the pictures make it look. I like the headstock shape, though it's not for everybody. You will definitely have to work to keep it set up well- the extra tension from the additional string means that the bass is super sensitive to changes in humidity and temperature. If you aren't good at setting up your own instruments, you'll be running to your tech frequently to keep it in playable shape. That said, when it's set right, it plays very well. The string spacing is nice and tight, which can make slapping a bit tricky but makes it easier to play fast.
Considering what you're getting out of the bass, it's a great price. It's not the greatest thing ever, but if you're looking for a 5 string that won't break the bank, it's a great starting point. I have no issues gigging or recording with it.

.Had this bass for about 3 1/2 years now. Time has taken it's toll on my baby. Paint job is still excellent, the black nickel hardware is showing it's age. It needs to be cleaned thoroughly to keep it from pitting and looking spotted.
My pick-up select knob fell off (on stage) that was the last time I saw it haha. Had it replaced and it fell off again.. so I just left it off, works fine still.
Now the B string, the 34" scale of the neck isn't suited very well for a B string. As I found out due to be finger style being a bit on the heavy side, same goes for slapping/popping/double thumbing. I swapped out the string for a 135 gauge to tighten it up a bit more, problem was that it doesn't fit through the string thru body section of the bridge so I had to string it through the bridge, instead of through the body (hard to explain lol) that kind of helped but the problem still exists.
I had the ground wire for the pickups torn off the jack output inside the bass due to the jam nut backing off on the inlet (if the jack rotates, the nut is loose!) Simple fix though, just resolder and tighten the nut.
The fingerboard is perfect and only as your strings get older do you notice the buzz that arises from playing chords around the center of the neck (truss rod being perfectly balanced) She stays in tune rather well too, I am using SIT strings which come standard on it and I haven't tuned the sucker in probably 6-8 months and she's still in tune (I check every now and then)
Never had a problem with the sound of the pick ups, only thing is that it uses a 9V battery (they're expensive). I've recorded with this bass and it sounds decent enough for a bass under five hundrd dollrs.
It is a bit heavy and it does have quite a bit of neck dive (you get used to it). It has slipped off the strap on me a few times while playing live (I was in a metal band at the time). The more upright it gets the easier it'll slip out, due to angles and it's weight.
I figured I'd add my opinions onto here so people don't have to look at all the "Just got it today! I LOVE IT LOL!!" comments. The bass has held up over time, I still get many compliments on it, the women love it haha, this was the first 5 string I have ever bought and it might stay that way for the next couple of years. I love the neck and the pick ups and overall feel of it. Don't play too many open notes on the B string and you'll be okay (plays awesome tuned in C, not sure why haha). Buy this bass and you will not be disappointed, I play Trivium to Primus to Incubus on it and it gets it right everytime. I think I've been sufficient in this summary of this teal (it's not that blue in real life) coloured bass.

.This bass is pretty awesome. The body is lightweight. Aside from a few flaws with the frets buzzing from time to time and the neck Dive, I would suggest this bass to anyone who is thinking about buying a 5 string bass. The tone is beautiful, especially when I play it through a 1x15. I play in a church worship band as well as a punk pop band, I would probably keep it away from the punk pop band, as 4 strings with the high to mid sound are better for that, but it is amazing for rounding out the bottom of your music.

.Everything about this guitar is just what you need great price, smooth playing, great sound all rolled up in one great package.
This is my first 5-string bass i've used nothing but 4 string up to this point other than getting used to the fith string the next is not much bigger than my old 4 strings very easy to play. I gig out with this guitar it is light enough not to wear out my shoulder after 4 hours playing. The blue finish is awsome.
The sound it makes is second to none so clear with the avtice pickups.
For the price I can see myself buying another soon just to have another.

.I Have owned this bass. while I owned the Ltd-B155XD was my favorite bass it had an awesome quality bass the sound quality was amazing as were the # of sounds i could get out of it. The 3 Band Eq Gives It the ability to be very versitile. This is the only bass i've ever had that i would consider rebuying. For those of you wandering why I sold it, Well money became tight and i wanted to keep eating. The action was Perfect from the factory I have never had any fret issues (The Xj fretts are very responsive and clean) nor, where there any signs of a warped neck which i have had on more expensive basses. THe only Problem I ever had with This Bass Was that it is only a 34" scale the company I ordered it from was advertising it as a 35", so the B string was not as responsive as i wanted it to be. however if youdont lay iinto the string it sounds great. it's especally good if you have short fingers, the neck isnt so big that it cant be played. All in all a good bass That i would recomend to anyone looking for a cheeper 5 string. For Thos of you who are deturred by the floppy b string I mentioned Earlier I would recomend the ESP LTD F-155DX the electronics seem to be the came and it's a 35" scale so that low B wont be flopy. All in all the LTD B-155XD is a great buy. I hope this is helpfull in your decision making prosses.

.This is my first 5 string. I researched this and it was the best in class. No supprises except it has exceeded my expectations. Being able to eq the sound onboard is new and kind of cool. I love the way it feels, I cannot wait to change strings though. Fit and finish is superior and this guitar looks awesome. I actually love the way the pickups sound.
ESP LTD B-155DX 5-String Bass Guitar See-Thru Blue
.This bass is phenomenal. I have played everything from jazz, to Gospel, to rock, and this bass has it all. Great low end, an awesome pop, and all around great sound. It's just a pleasure to play!!
ESP LTD B-155DX 5-String Bass Guitar See-Thru Blue
.This bass is perfect for you if it is your first five string. The value in comparison to the quality is the best I've ever seen for a bass and let's face it, it looks SWEET. The only issues I have with this one is that when I got it through the mail, the action was all messed up, but it didn't take too long to fix so I cant really complain. Secondly, the pickups on mine were not nearly as hot and receptive as other ESPs I've used. The EQ is adequate, what you would expect for the price, but it does have a nice tone for pretty much every type of music that you would want to play. I'd have to say that this would be a good second bass, but I would also have to say that if I had an extra $150 to spend, I would consider looking for something else.
ESP LTD B-155DX 5-String Bass Guitar See-Thru Blue
.Pros: alot of good features such as the active pickups and EQ, great neck which makes the transition from a four to a five easy, comfortable to play, light weight, 24 frets, wont bust your bank, sick A$$ color, and the list goes on.Cons: strings are kinda cheesy, but thats expected with all stock strings. there isn't anything bad about this bass, its a great bass that you will enjoy playing on.
ESP LTD B-155DX 5-String Bass Guitar See-Thru Blue
.Ok, i bought this bass from a different web site but this is still the same bass as it was there. i know alot of people do buisiness here as well as myself, so thiught i'd take this opritunity while im away from the band for a few hours to tell you about this bass. it's great for the price and the features are absolutly amazing, this in my opinion is the best bass in the b-series. so if your looking to rock the stage or even abasement or bedroom, this is the way to go.
