Overall there is nothing wrong with this guitar at all. It plays great, feels great, sounds and looks even better. Only thing I could say I would have liked, would have been a bridge similar to what the Ibanez MTM1 has on it, but that is just personal prefence, and the Ibanez cost twice as much as this one! If you want to step into the 7-string world this is the guitar to start with!
For the price of this 7-string just getting the active EMG's is nice. Plus a mahogany body, not alder, which is a must for me personally. Mahogany + low B string = awesome! Love the sound.
Finish is fantastic. Even for a product that is build in China, it is up to standard. Plus a satin neck finish is always awesome! Smooth.
Undeniably a great value. For a mid-priced guitar it is above the bar in value and playability. The ESP neck is so nice. After years of Jackson, Gibson, and Ibanez guitars I have found a guitar that has sold me on a brand I have never experienced before. It is amazing how smooth it plays even with the extra string. That extra fretboard width just doesn't hinder playability. The neck radius is perfect for my hand.

.Had been wanting to get a seven string guitar for the longest time and had many contenders to choose from including a Schecter Hellraiser seven string, Shecter C-7 standard and an S-series Ibanez seven string. I ended up going with the ESP without even trying it out first and I don't think at all that I made the wrong decision. The features on the guitar are absolutely killer. The Satin Black finish is very nice and doesn't attract as many finger prints as a common guitar finish. I love the neck through construction; very convenient when playing up on the higher notes. The extra jumbo frets make the guitar a dream to play. And the playability is absolutely amazing, especially since I've transitioned from a six string guitar with an annoying locking trem. I was very surprised by the clarity of the EMGs when I play a chord or do those fast runs up and down the neck. Very cool. Granted, the active pickups do sound noticeably sterile, but I think I can cope with that. Also, the guitar doesn't scream as much as my Jackson. In some ways it's a good and band thing (I do miss have to screaming bends). I guess it could be the combination of the warmer woods and pickups. However, the pros outweigh the dismissive cons by a large margin. Taking this guitar into consideration when upgrading to a 7-string would be a wise choice.

.I've been playing 7 string guitars for some time now..I've owned everything from the Ibanez RG Series to the Ibanez S Series to a Schecter 7. Being my 5th and final guitar, I have to say that all around: there is nothing you can't accomplish with this guitar! Matter of fact, I bought a second one as a backup!

.I love this new addition to my axe collection! The best feature about the guitar is the neck itself. It is fixed (NT) to the body for nice resonance, but the thinness and smooth satin finish on the back of the neck is the best feature of the overall neck playability. The satin finish can be buffed out to shine nicely if desired. I own other seven strings and in comparison to say the Shecter Hellraiser C-7 series which has a very thick and beefy neck that resonates well, but can fatigue your hands quickly, and the Ibenez RG series seven string that has a thin neck like the MH-417, but lacks the dense sustain and feel of the MH-417 being a bolt on neck. And lastly, the famous ESP LTD SC-607 which is similar in all aspects of design, but has a middle pickup that can take time to adjust to and the volume controls are a bit futher away from the bridge pickup. The EMG 81/707 pickups are simply the best, and you can easily switch them around if desired for whatever one you like in bridge or neck. I own all of the above mentioned guitars and love them all. The MH-417 is a great addition to or intro to upper end sounds and playability at a good price without the need to change pickups or do a big setup. It really replicates the high dollar big brother ESP NT-7 model for a fraction of the price.

.This is my first 7 string and I've been very pleased with it so far. Great overall feel and the satin black finish is amazing. Nice flat fretboard making bending really easy and the emg pickups are incredible. The 707 is perfect for cleans and I love the 81. If you're in the market for a 7 string this is the best value out there. Just wish it came with a case.
