The G-1275 is based on the vintage original œ1235 Doubleneck that was first produced at the legendary Gibson/EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Kalamazoo, Michigan factory in 1963. It quickly became one of the most sought-after and original guitars in rock. It was not only embraced by British rockers like Pete Townshend of the Who, Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, and John McLaughlin but also Elvis Presley and bluesman Earl Hooker. The SG Story
The SG œSolid Guitar body style on which the G-1275 Doubleneck is based was first introduced in 1961 as a replacement for the Les Paul Standard which went briefly out of production in the early '60s. The SG was called the "fretless wonder" for its low frets and fast action and the twin horn cutaway design was like nothing on the market. Its light but balanced weight made it the perfect guitar for stage and studio work and even in the form of the G-1275 Doubleneck, its surprisingly balanced and easy to play.
A Rock Icon
EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e's Ltd. Ed. G-1275 has a select mahogany body with a C=cherry finish. Both the 12-string and 6-string necks are made from mahogany and share a 1960s SlimTaperTM shape, a 12" radius and a 25.75" scale. Both necks also feature Rosewood fingerboards with single layer ivory binding, medium jumbo frets, and pearloid parallelogram block inlays. The 12-string features a 1.85" nut width while the 6-string is cut to the standard 1.68". Machine heads are period-correct œDeluxe Tulip Button tuners with a pro 18:1 ratio.

The Ltd. Ed. G-1275 isn™t just eye catching, it sounds extraordinary, too. The 12-string half of the G-1275 features an Alnico Classic humbucker in the neck position and an Alnico Classic Plus humbucker in the bridge position. The 6-string body is powered by an open coil Alnico Classic humbucker in the neck and an open coil Alnico Classic Plus humbucker at the bridge. Both pickups are controlled by full function Black Speed Knobs for volume and tone that are powered by full-size 500K potentiometers.

EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e has also re-created the one-of-a-kind hardware and pickguard that make the Ltd. Ed. G-1275 one of the most easily recognized guitars in rock. The 6-string and 12-string each have their own EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e all-metal 3-way toggle switch for pickup selection. There is also a second œmaster all-metal 3-way toggle switch located between the 6-string and 12-string bridge. From here, players can choose the 12-string (up), the 6-string (down) or both (middle) for unlimited tone combinations. Alpine White is back! If you wanted one of these in something other than Heritage Cherry nows the time to buy one. Overall this is a well made Gibson EDS style double neck. With better pickup selection choices vs the Gibson. Three switches are better than two. I've got a Norlin era EDS 1275 ala Felder. And this compares favorably. Slightly lighter and seems more resonant. The resonence may be due to to the revised Page spec tail peice location. while it's personal preference I much prefer the ProBucker 2-3 over the Alnico Classic Pro pickups this ships with. Having a pair for some added punch on at least the 6 string side would be nice. Wheather your playing originals or covers, live or in the studio this is a fabulous way to add some 12 string girth, chime and jangle to your sound. If your doing covers in a band having one of these opens up a whole bunch of material. And playing it on a double neck is twice as much fun. I own this And a Gibson EDS. I highly recommend the EE-Epiphone-e version. It seems every EE-Epiphone-e guitar I've owned always has a few bugs to be worked out. However once they're fixed they're very nice guitars to play. This double neck was no exception as the 12 string neck cut out on me due to some wiring issues. Musicisnsfriend was very cool about the issue and sent me a replacement that's had no major issues so far.Given it's size you would think I guitar like this would be difficult to play both awkward and heavy. However I was pleasently surprised how comfortable the guitar felt. The guitar is actually a bit lighter than my Les Paul. Both necks are easy to access. Switching back and forth takes a bit of practice if your new to owning a double neck. This guitar features a three way switch to switch between the 12, the 6 or both at the same time. I find having both necks lowers the output of the pickups a bit. I prefer to switch between one or the other personally I seldom use them at the same time. In addition to the three between the necks, each neck gets it's own 3 way tone. There are two volume and two tone knobs that control both necks as well.
As states earlier the necks are very nice to play. I find the action very comparible to a Les Paul. The pickups are very well balanced providing enough output for great lead from a good crunch up to a high gain metal. But the pickups aren't too hot to give it very clean tone when needed as well. As with the neck the tone also is very comparible to that of a Les Paul. I've not played many 12 string guitars prior to buying this one, so it's difficult to compare the top neck to another. It plays very nice. The action was just right out of the box with no setup needed.
The only minor complaint I would make with this guitar is the access to the higher notes on 19th fret and on. Each neck only features a 20 fret neck which limits you a bit if you play lead using higher notes. The sg body doesn't have as deeper of a cut away body as some guitars so access to the 19th and 20th fret can be hard

.Was shocked at the beauty of this guitar. Opened up the box,. pulled it out of the foam bag ..EXCELLANT ! Almost in tune ! The cold weather had a lot to do with detuning ! LOVE it !

The finish on the guitar was near perfect. No dings or dents. I was amazed. All the electronics work as well as switches. I would venture to say that this version of the original Gibson is probably better is some ways. I had a Gibson SG special with the blond finish from the 60s that I played in the early 70s. I sold it to purchase a Martin acoustic. Ever since I wished I kept it. This is why the double neck was of particular interest to me. The sound is great and you will get a lot of positive comments about the look. This is obviously a heavier guitar so you want to have your go to guitar for gigs and bring this out for those special songs for the wow effect. Guarantee people will ask about it. This is a showboat guitar for sure. Again, the sound is exceptional and the versatility is in your hands. The price is totally reasonable when you consider what you get. The action is a tad high but not unworkable. You can always have some minor work done to get it exactly like you want it. .I purchased mine years ago when the hardware was chrome, so it was not easy finding the gold hardware (specifically those gold micro switches). The pups on the 6-string side were so weak that I had to put cables on it to get the same amount of volume output compared to the 12-string side. So I pulled and replaced all the wiring and pots. Replaced the pups on the 6-string side with EMG,s (Zak Wilde set), along with some anico custom 4 wired hand wound with the split coils on the 12-string side (micro switches). Kluson vintage pearl tuners. Then of course the white pearloid pick-guard, and the "beautiful Thunder" (Sioux) truss rod covers. So, the only thing left original are the knobs. Like my headline states, it's a good starter.

Been wanting one of these since Hotel California came out back in the 70's. Like most folks, I can't afford the gibson version, but I own 23 Epi's as well as several gibson and a fender, I'll put any one of my Epis up against its gibson counterpart any day. .The guitar plays and feels like a Gibson eds 1275. The pick ups need to be replaced if you want to use it live. For the price, even including changing the electronics, it's still a great deal. I invested 1500 including pickups and case. That's a lot cheaper than 6700+.

.Heavy as hell, poor placement of guitar 12 to 6 toggle switch, had to change the bridge on the 6 side, put a Gibson bridge on, improve feel and sustain. 12 side appears to be quite playable, nice feel good action. The tail piece is too far back on the 12 side putting stringing the g & d strings to their maximum stretch. Having the guitar completely re-wired and all the toggle switches replace with better quality gear. You get what you pay for but with the right approach and a good luthier you can get this guitar to perform at a high level. The finish was very good, got the alpine white finish, beautiful.
