Product Features

Based on the body shapes of EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e's traditional 335 guitars such as the the Casino and Sheraton, the EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e PR5E made its debut in 1990. Unlike those double-cutaway siblings, it has a single, sharp Florentine for complete fingerboard access. The hefty lower bout produces round and warm bass notes and highly defined mids. The premium spruce top employs a hand-scalloped X-brace pattern for crisp response. The subtly arched mahogany back and mahogany sides warm up the guitar's tone. The SlimTaper neck is designed to minimize playing fatigue. Grover tuners offer smooth action and locked-in tuning. Gold hardware and split-diamond fretboard inlays give it the look of a guitar costing much more.EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e installs its eSonic preamp and Nanoflex pickup system to make the PR5E live-performance ready in amplified venues. The eSonic preamp, which is built in collaboration with Shadow Germany, has an onboard tuner. As you select the tuning mode, output is muted for silent onstage tuning. The tuner can also be engaged when you plug and unplug the guitar, eliminating annoying pops. A master volume, 3-band EQ, and shape switch make it easy to get your tone right. An included phase switch helps fight feedback. The eSonic is powered by two 2032 lithium watch batteries that keep the preamp operating much longer than bulky 9V batteries. The Shadow system's Nanoflex low-impedance pickup has special sensing material and integrated electronics that read body as well as string vibrations. This results in more natural, rounder tone that avoids the "quackiness" of piezo pickups.

This guitar would be great for anyone. From beginner up. It is easy to play with great action. Solidly built, with beautiful amped sound. Not as good unplugged due to the thinner body. but plugged in it sounds like it's a foot deep!. I am usually a little hard to satisfy when it come to lower cost anything, and i wasn't very happy with this guitar until i put some good strings on it. now i am completely satisfied with it.
Really Should be a 10 but need to leave room for adjustment. Great guitar for the money. If it came with better strings it may have gotten the 10. Swapped them immediately to Martin Marquis Lights, now 9.5 easy. the electronics are good also, and make the sound even better and tuning a breeze. It holds tune very well by the way.
Very nicely finished guitar , Mine is the natural finish. Flawless as far as i can tell. For the money. Great!
Again for the money, Great value. If all guitars in this price range sounded and looked, and played like this one there would be no need to make one for more.

.For the price, I am very pleased with this guitar. I love the slim body and neck which makes it easy to play. The sound is great coming from this guitar, and even better plugged in. The finish is beautiful in the natural color. The cutaway looks great and provides easy access. I love the headstock and the gold tuners because they look great. I was unsure about this when I bought it. When I finally got it though, I fell in love with it. And no this is not a Gibson, Taylor, Martin, or any other high end guitar and it would be crazy to even compare it to them as some have done so. A lot of us are strapped for cash and this is great for the money. So, give it some thought if you have been looking for a budget guitar.

.The main thing that I was "really" disapointed with was EE-Epiphone-e as a company, really poor customer support. EE-Epiphone-e is a subsidiary of Gibson and I expected better treatment. When I emailed the main support, and after "going back and forth" in regards to the neck and bridge, they wanted "me" to ship them the guitar at "my" expensive.. not worth it when you add on insurance as well. I can still play the guitar, and the finish looks good, but the action on the neck it is just not right because of the neck and bridge "defects".
Finish is nice, sound is awesome.. nice low end for a cutaway. The pickup system is very nice as well.
The neck has a small bough in mine. Truss rod and saddle height adjustment did not help. Also the bridge is lifting just a bit in the back, not enough to worry about, but it does not make me happy.
If the neck and bridge did not have any problems, I would have rated this guitar a lot higher. Good for the price again if the defects were not there.

.I think this is a really good guitar. I play on a jazz band and it gives you the acustic old sound of the 70's Jazz as well. I play stuff like So what, Take Five, Dear old Stocholm and it sounds great. It does stays in tune and works very well on different climates. I used to have an old one that was broken by accident still I have just purchased this one from here which is the same exact model and I hope tht I will get it on time and in very good conditions.

.This acoustic is absolutely aweseome. I noticed some other reviews talking about the action, and I think that might be a personal preference thing, as the action is not noticably high. The stock strings were absolute garbage, so restring this guitar the moment you get it, and it will sound so much better!

The open air sound is obviously not as deep and full as a full size body, but it still holds it own and sounds quite nice. Plugged in it sounds really really good though, probably about 80% as good as a Maton, Taylor, Cole Clark etc. For the price I am extremely happy with it.

.I bought the guitar for fingerpicking. It works quite well. Fit and finish were excellent. I don't consider anything "perfect," especially guitars, largely because no guitar does "everything." This is not a dreadnaught. It's not for heavy pounding with a flatpick - although I still recommend my purchase of a Taylor clear pick guard even for a fingerpicker. It's held on by static and can easily be removed and is only $10 anyway. If you flatpick, I'd say it's a "must" add-on at the price of a set of strings. The phase button is worth its weight in gold using this guitar through an amp. The overall controls work well and help cover my inclination toward very light strings. In my case, DR Zebra A-E 9-42 which are lighter than most people wear on an acoustic guitar. But it will handle fingerpicking from Bach to whatever.Definitely buy a hard case for this guitar. It's worth the protection. Again, the neck, tuners... everything is quite nice. I doubt it would be my choice for bluegrass, but for what I do, it's an exceptional instrument.

.Excellent instrument at this price point. Because of the shallow body it's a little quiet acoustically, but very comfortable. Good definition across the strings and a fast attack.
The electronics are fantastic! Clear, transparent and sharp focus. Tuner is surprisingly accurate but doesn't have option for anything other than 440.
I've only had this guitar for a few weeks, but have found it excellent for DADGAD tuning. Great 'quiet' guitar for songwriting.

.Read previous reviews that original string s were not very good.. That's true....changed strings right away and adjusted truss rod. Guitar sounds good. Jack plugin loosened up ...had to tighen first week.
I think I have worked out all the kinks now and sounds great. Very good electronics.

.This is a beautiful guitar first off. I ordered with the case for the pr5e and musician's friend went ahead and put the guitar in the case which was a beauty in itself. Out of the box this guitar has great action and a straight neck. This thing plays better than my fender and I love the hardware. All in all great product and would recommend to beginners and experts alike.

.I bought the sunburst model of this guitar a few years ago, and I have played the heck out of it. I have owned many guitars, and I have kept and played this one the longest. I decided I wanted to keep a guitar on hand at another location, and after research I was drawn back to this guitar. I got it in the natural finish. It does have a slightly thinner body (not as deep) but so much that it hurts the sound. It is easy to hold and play. I also got the EE-Epiphone-e case for it which is very nice, too. Ordered it all by phone and got a very decent price.
