I got the Special 2 GT as a beginner guitar two years ago and is still a great guitar for someone of that skill level. When i first got it, things like the killswitch and tremolo looked like really great and useful attachments to the guitar. But really the killswitch and tremolo feel like last minute additions to what should have just been a black on black special 2. The tremolo is quite bad and virtually useless considering your guitar is taken out of tune instantly. But its a very playable guitar and for those that like black, otherwise i recommend saving an extra 30 dollars and just getting the les paul special 2.

.When I had barely turned 16, I had decided I wanted to get into guitar (late start, I know), and I looked everywhere for a guitar that I would be able to use for the genre of music I liked (which would be heavy music in drop D). This guitar stood out to me because of its all black finish and comfortable feel. After feeling a few other guitars and the wallet in my pocket, I decided this would be the one I could get. I was instantly surprised of the quality that this guitar had, I had other friends who bought cheap guitars and they sounded poor. Having a quality guitar is definitely something that can keep someone inspired, and this guitar does the job. I ran this guitar through a Line 6 Spider IV 15 Watt, and althought it is a lower-end model amp, it sounded great. I've had this guitar for a year now and the neck pickup has gone out, but it does not concern me much because I only really use the bridge pickup. Since purchase of this guitar, I've also gotten an Ibanez RG350DX with a blocked bridge and custom pickups (a Seymour Duncan SH-13 for the bridge), and I must say that the EE-Epiphone-e definitely competes with my Ibanez. The body is comfortable and overall it is a good feeling guitar that would make a beginner feel like they're in complete control.

.I really like this guitar! I got it for Christmas. It's a great guitar for what you pay. The finish is beautiful. I love the feal of it. It sounds really great I would recommend it to a friend!

.I got this guitar for the holidays and I'm specially amazed with it. It has a great sound, perfect tuning and a great feel. The trem is a bit loosy but it's no big deal, and changing the strings was a pain, but that's neither the end of the world. I highly recommend this guitar for any style except clean sounds.

.I wanted to learn how to play. I've had lots of guitars but never stuck with it. Then I bought this guitar and it had great playing action, the style was nice, brings fun to playing. I definitely recommend it to beginners. I learned a lot. But when I got it, the tone knob and a couple other things were loose. The finish doesn't last long and it doesn't stay in tune very well. All in all, I don't regret buying it.

.The les paul gt is a solid player, it sounds good for the price. Also the acoustic sound it produces is quite good, however, my frets are kind of worn out now, so it doesn't sound too good anymore. (I am not going to talk about the pros anymore, because there are plenty of reviews that focus on those). Now for the bad. The body of the guitar is incredibly flat and blocky. There is no tapering, or smoothing around the edges of the guitar. Because of this, when you are playing, the edge of the guitar is constantly jabbing your rib with its sharp edge. It also shows how poor the craftsmanship is on the guitar. I'd say that 99% of the guitar was made and assembled by robots. the guitar is also quite heavy adding to the discomfort. If your going to buy this guitar just be aware that the body is completely 2 dimensional with no concave or anything, also know that the guitar is rather heavy.

.This is my first guitar ever and I'm proud to own it. Sounds great and looks beautiful.
Definitely recommended for beginners. I use it for learning and practicing but I bet it would sound great on a live you.

.well considering that when my new guitar arrived the pick guard fell off and it had a hole in the back of the body that you could fit a pencil eraser into it was o.k.

.I originally bought a Strat-pack locally years ago. Frankly I didn't even like to hold the thing making learning the guitar hard and I eventually just kind of gave up.I had been getting the "itch" to start again recently but the same problem as above. I decided to try and find a good Gibson/EE-Epiphone-e at a bargain price. This guitar is it! I haven't had the guitar out of the box for 2 hours and have been playing non-stop only pausing to write this review. It feels great in my hands, frets easily, holds it's tune well, and was playable with no set-up right out of the box. This guitar makes me want to learn more. I'd recommend this to anyone who doesn't like the feel of a Fender Strat Squire and is in the beginning stages.
