Product Features

The EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Wilshire Phant-O-Matic Electric Guitar was designed in collaboration with Frank Iero, guitarist for multi-platinum band My Chemical Romance, and combines an incredible array of features that only EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e would dare put in one instrument.

The result is one of the smartest and most flexible guitars on the market with all the vintage styling that made Wilshire models a behind-the-scenes favorite of Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Paul Gilbert, and Steve Marriot.

Classic Form
Like the classic SG design, the Wilshire Phant-o-matic features a double cutaway design with a solid Mahogany body. The 24.75 scale mahogany hand-set neck has a 1960s SlimTaper profile, a rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl block inlays, a 12 radius, and a 1-11/16 nut. The neck profile and double cutaway make the Wilshire Phant-o-matic a perfect guitar for chunking rhythm or cutting leads. The Antique Ivory finish, black single-ply pickguard, and classic form are eye catching to be sure. But what really sets the Wilshire Phant-o-matic apart from the pack is how it sounds.

Includes gig bag.

it feels and sounds great. i have an epi sg-400. while i like the sg, i have some issues with it. i was expecting the same issue with the phant o matic. not the case. the les paul neck and pick ups take this guitar in another direction. it is so raw, but so contained at the same time. i own, and have owned, numerous guitars. this is by far my favorite right now. the sound and feel, mixed with the kill switch and "o matic" tone, make this a guitar worth owning. i liked my gibson les paul studio. i love this guitar. i would never write a review of anything, but i just had to write one for the phant o matic. btw, i am not a fan of my chemical romance. i hate that this guitar is associated with them. it makes me embarassed to tell my friends about it.
it's sad that there's only one review of this guitar. it is a really great guitar that has so many features. the tone "o matic" feature takes a little tinkering around with to see what it does, i think that it would be a great feature in recording multiple guitar tracks. the kill switch is pretty cool, i can see myself using it more than i should. the rest is pretty basic. volume knob and a 3 way switch. simple, but so versatile.
i was skeptical when i ordered it, and almost canceled my order a couple of times. i'm glad i didn't. well built and feels solid. i'm kind of expecting to have to switch out the input jack, but no problems so far (knock on wood). frets feel good and the tuners stay in tune. i had to get it set up, but i would do that with any guitar i bought.
it's a great price for an unexpectedly great guitar

.I've dealt with guitars that cost ten times this, and I regret buying anything before this. The feel is so solid. The design is so different yet classic.
This guitar is like some sort of beautiful Frankenstein.
It has all the best things from several guitars, with solid hardware and effects. I've had gibsons new that don't have the feel of quality that this guitar has. I really love it.

And yes. This review may be slightly biased as I'm a huge fan of MCR, but I'd give it the same rating regardless.

.Wow! First impressions of the guitar were not good. There was horrible fret buzz, the neck was bowed, and the pickup selector was already having problems. After I got the guitar set up correctly (which all good guitars need), I was surprised at how light the guitar really is. The neck does not seem to be "slim tapered" but rather chunky which I am a fan of. The electronics don't seem to be 100% though. Over all a good guitar but it has issues which need sorting. Perfect live guitar though for swinging, throwing, and beating.

.I bought this guitar for the combination of features it has..love the les paul neck and headstock. The tuners look great and stay in tune.I LOVE the position tone switch..it's a Great feature when recording. The kill switch I tend to use more than I should. All the hardware is solid nothing loose ,no rattles anywhere.String action was nice and low with no fret buzz anywhere and no dead spots on the neck.Ivory finish was flawless.guitar is light weight and the guitar came in a padded epiphone gig bag.I like this guitar so much that I will probably order the LTD green finish model. It's a Keeper..

.really did not like the coil splitting. the only good sounding one is the 1 position. wasnt properly set up and the neck is too thin, for my taste. it arrived with damage on the paint andwhat looks like cracks in the laminate they used. cheap guitar but sounds great when you crank it loud and jam some led zeppelin or something like that

.First off- I own 30 guitars... so I know a few things when it comes to good tone and good playability. I own a Crestwood, and ET-270 - and a few Wilshires. This Phant-O-Matic Wilshire is a complete waste of time. No matter how hard you try- the gimmicky tone pot never cleans up- the electronics only serve to cloud up the output, and either muddy the tone with fuzz, or add false brittle highs. Either way- you end up with a nasty output. The Wilshire I received here had defective wiring that was causing pops, I de-bugged the issue by plugging in other guitars, changing cables, etc... - all the problems were in this guitar. I had to send this one back, and I won't be replacing it with another Phant-O-Matic. -Not a chance.. This model is a huge waste of time and effort. A real disappointment.
