Product Features

In specifying the details of his signature Dave Navarro Signature acoustic-electric, Dave insisted on all solid-wood construction for the sustain and tonal depth his playing demands. Built on traditional dreadnought lines, the hefty shoulders and substantial body depth conspire to produce strong projection that's tonally tight. The cutaway grants total access to an easy-playing ebony fingerboard.Solid mahogany back and sides impart warmth and mellowness to the natural crispness and definition of a solid Sitka spruce top. The midrange is bold yet balanced so that chorded rhythms deliver plenty of power while retaining articulation. A traditionally glued neck joint keeps the neck snugged up the body to maximize all that warm tone. The SlimTaper D-shape neck and 12" radius add speed and comfort to your shredding, while lessening player exhaustion. The ebony fretboard, rosewood bridge, and bone nut produce some of the clearest tone possible, so you can hear your notes with crystal clarity. At the heart of the EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Dave Navarro Signature guitar is the integrated electronics, letting you plug in and amplify quickly and painlessly. The Nanoflex pickup is capable of conveying all the harmonic and organic dimensions of the acoustic sound spectrum. NanoFlex pickups produce an open sound, conveying natural harmonic overtones. Shadow developed a unique technology that amplifies and shields directly at the pickup. This innovative technology keeps loss of sound at an absolute minimum and guarantees a signal that is completely free of noise. The acoustic-electric guitar's eSonic preamp includes master volume, high EQ, low EQ, anti-feedback phase reversal switch, chromatic tuner, stereo output, and dynamics controls to dial in your ideal amplified guitar voice.Grover tuners provide hours of stress-free playing, so you don't have to worry about keeping your guitar in tune. These tuners provide precision. The beautiful polyurethane finish will only get better with age, and nickel hardware adds an element of luxurious shine to the impressive EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Dave Navarro Signature guitar.

As of 4/27 this guitar is still being sold as having Solid Mahogany Sides. Check epiphones website for yourself. I hope those who purchased this guitar already are well aware they do not have a solid body guitar.

.This guitar is a steal! Very nice quality, nicer than the EE-Epiphone-e Masterbuilt acoustics. Mine was made in Indonesia. Solid top, back and sides, nice on-board Shadow preamp and tuner, ebony fretboard, multi-ply body binding and bound neck and headstock. Nice Grover tuners, even a bone nut and saddle! You really get a lot for your money with this guitar.Had mine for a few weeks now and it's starting to really open up and break in. Overall I am really impressed.

.Did I mention no laminates in the construction !?! All around it's a solid beast that as your sole acoustic, should last you a lifetime.
This is quite a good offering from EE-Epiphone-e. It has all the features of the Masterbilt series (eg. DR500Mce) including all solid wood construction. But with the exception of the 2nd neck pickup. I love the ebony neck, bone nut and compensated saddle and also that it doesn't look like every other acoustic in the world. The setup was pretty good, 6.5-7 out of 10. Action is as low as possible with the 12 gauge strings it gets shipped with. Finish is overall very good except the edges of the frets could be smoothed out more. The frets are all proper it's just you can tell they didn't go the extra mile and put that last bit of filing to round off the edge. The sound is great for this price range, I can't wait to see how it develops complexity once it's aged a couple years. Good choice for someone who plays mainly electric. Not quite as "playable" straight away as an Ovation, but I hate the backs of their guitars. A Breedlove of similar price would be the only competition in playability and sound.

.My husband debated over requesting a Masterbuilt Acoustic-Electric EE-Epiphone-e or the Dave Navarro version, and once he discovered the Dave Navarro was solid wood he jumped on it. It arrived in two days! Amazing! We have always been happy with Custom Guitar's Friend's customer service and excellent products. He's been in heaven since the minute he opened the box and won't put the guitar down. Though it required a little fine-tuning due to the factory set up, it sounds fabulous and has a rich, intense tone. The workmanship is extraordinary and nearly perfect. He's very happy with his new acquistion and will place it in the middle of his vast collection on the wall--that's if he doesn't take it to bed with him tonight instead of his wife.

It's got a certain shimmery chime that tingles my ears. It's my first guitar with abalone, and it's my first full sized guitar. It's also my first guitar with an inlay at the first fret. I'm usually not a fan of acoustic cutaways, but I do appreciate the upper access. It doesn't detract from this guitar. The bone nut and saddle are supposed to be made of bone. Maybe that's what's emanating the shimmery chime tones.

The crystal clear scratchplate's artwork is on its underside, so it's impervious to getting scratched off. At extreme close up view, it's a beautiful thing.

The curvature of the scratchplate, aroudn the soundhole, doesn't match very well. It's one of the minor quirks of this imported instrument that adds to its character - I guess. Little finish flaws here and there, but you really have to look closely.

The full size stature of this beast's deep body and standard sized soundhole, will allow it to be fitted with a rubber plug for reducing feedback in a live situation.

I got the EDREAD case, which is pretty huge. It's deep and wide, and long too. It's a good case for Jane to live in.

I've always messed with the lower-end offerings from the "prestigious" brands, eschewing the fancy accoutrements of fancy inlays and other visual enhancements, thinking that's the way to get the most bang for my buck. They do not compare to Jane. I like this gothic hummingbird more than low-end Taylors and Martins.

Binding helps protect her as well as adding formal tuxedo markings. The price is steep, for an acoustic EE-Epiphone-e, that isn't a Masterbilt. The lopsided swooping pompadour headstock of the masterbilts is what kept me away from them. The Jane is priced twice as much as the black epiphone hummingbird PRO even. I guess Dave Navarro is what makes it so special, and it's the 25.5 scale, instead of the 24.75 of the black hummingbird PRO.

The ebony fretboard isn't really black as much as it's a very dark brown. I'm betting it'll darke

This is a clarification on the questio of select versus solid terminology.
What does select mahogany mean? It does not mean that it is laminated wood. It is solid wood, just not of the same cut. Which means it will have different grain patterns.
I stand corrected on my previous review.
