This guitar is amazing. If I were blindfolded and handed one of these to play on, I would assume it cost at least five times as much as it does. I've been the lead guitarist, as well as a rhythmist, for multiple bands. I've played just about every major brand I can think of. Gibson standards, MIA Fenders, upper end Deans, BC Rich, etc. This is the first EE-Epiphone-e I've owned. Always wanted to grab one for rehearsals and what not so I wouldn't have to risk my more expensive axes. I'd played a friend's Epi LP standard for a while, and I didn't really like it too much. But this Slash Special II, man. It sings.

I play mostly heavy stuff. Pantera, Metallica, Alter Bridge, etc. And this thing handles all of that with ease! I've read some reviews on this guy, where people were saying it wasn't any good for metal. Straight up. They're wrong. I've also thrown this guitar through some blues, and poppier tunes. It can do it all, with a little tinkering. Now, here's what makes this a four star review. This thing can shred for days, and make you want to keep going. But when you want to switch to that neck PUP and play some cleaner tunes, you'll find yourself playing with the volume knob a little more than I prefer. The bridge pup is awesome.

Tuning. Personally, I don't know if some people have just gotten really unlucky or what, but as long as you're not bouncing your tuners off the walls, they'll hold tune just fine. I found that after about two hours of really shredding on the guitar, the only string to slip at all, was the big E. But, it was only maybe an eighth of a turn too low. The built in tuner is also awesome. It's accurate. And pretty quick as well. Probably my favorite tuner I've ever used.

The finish is beautiful. The pictures online really don't do it any justice at all. When I opened the box, I was in awe as to what a guitar this cheap could look like. It was set up beautifully straight out of the box. Nice low action, as I prefer. Very close to still being in tune. Impressive.

So, in a nutshell. If you're looking, you're obviously interested. Buy this. Best guitar I've ever played for this price range. And in contention to be one of the best I've ever played in any price range. Thank you, EE-Epiphone-e. Didn't plan on it. But this LP might just make some of my more expensive guitars sit backstage for a few songs at future gigs.

.Well for 30 more than a LP SPII you get the bag and stap, special pickups, and a mahoghany body with maple cap and binding, smooth even frets, very tight pocket for outstanding sustain, and the Slash Logo on the headstock and Bag with 5mm foam. The tuners and strap holders are just adequate, as is the strap. The electric tuner is an added bonus, but hard to see at first. The setup was decent. Definitely a real rocker. Nice flame maple looks.

.it was great right out of the box butlike other musicians I know they do there adjustment to suit their style. I am very satisfied with this guitar and I would recommend it to all my friends.

.This a just a great guitar for the price. It could easily pass for an instrument that is three or four times the price. I own a Gibson Les Paul Custom and custom Fender Strat and this EE-Epiphone-e is the funnest to play and comes very close in sound quality to the Les Paul which is much heavier! I have to say I may be biased as a Slash fan but I think his influence has just made this a great guitar! Built in tuner is great and even makes it easy to tune down a half step for GnR tunes! Includes a light weight bag, strap, cable which I have not used and some nice picks. I may buy another one just to hang on the wall and look at!

.I already own an awesome Gibson Les Paul with a set neck. Played some EE-Epiphone-e guitars in a music store and always wanted one. This Les Paul Special II Slash model guitar plays like a dream. It's even got a built in guitar tuner hidden in the bridge pickup ring! This guitar is just as good quality-wise as my Gibson with the exception of the bolt on neck. You cannot beat the price and it looks great too. Very happy with this purchase. Thank you Slash!

.It looks much better in person. There is more depth and it's less yellow. There is more of an amber tint. The AAA maple top is nice and the cherry back, sides and neck are finished very nicely as well. The cream binding is also attractive. The guitar itself is great.

The pickups, tone, resonance, and the looks are what make this a 5-star guitar. The pickups do offer a tone similar to that of the AFD record by GNR. They are a bit hot but they really sing. The tuning pegs are not great but they are just fine. I will probably replace them. I did not prefer the strings that it came with. Overall the hardware could be better but the pickups are excellent and guitar resonates like a Les Paul should.

Many Les Paul purists will turn their nose up to a bolt-on neck but bolt-ons have their own advantages. And it makes the guitar more affordable.

It is not as versatile as my Epi Les Paul Standard but it's not as heavy either. The weight is around 7.2lbs for the Slash AFD vs. my 10lb Standard. In the guitar realm, for me that is the equivalent of a Labrador vs. a St. Bernard in terms of weight.

This is my 3rd EE-Epiphone-e guitar. This guitar is made in China. My other two were made in Indonesia (Epi Lp Standard and the Hummingbird Pro). The craftsmanship and playability out of the box was better on both guitars from Indonesia.

The Slash AFD required a lot of attention to correct fret buzz and intonation. I still may have to take it to a tech to make it just right. I did get it playable. It's staying in tune for the most part and it is an GREAT joy to play.

.I purchased this for personal fun maybe move to small gigs. The guitar is amazing for the price. I lowered the action on it and plays great couldn't be happier.
Epiphone Slash "AFD" Les Paul Guitar Outfit
.This guitar has slightly brighter clearer(zebra TM) more pronounced pickups than the Alnico 650T/700R found on the stock Special 2 ver..Nice presence in the tone and well balanced dynamics of your picking nuance will it deliver.

Guitar body seemed a bit bigger than the stock special 2.

Slight fret buzz that a small sanding would fix...
Epiphone Slash "AFD" Les Paul Guitar Outfit
.A little bit of fret buzz and some craftsmanship issues but this guitar sounds and plays great. No reason not to buy it
Epiphone Slash "AFD" Les Paul Guitar Outfit
.You will not find a better guitar for the price. Flame top, great pick-ups, no fret buzz, light. I recommend this guitar for anyone.
