Product Features

The Ltd. Ed. Emperor Swingster Blue Royale is truly the Emperor of the renown Royale Series and features incredible Silver Sparkle binding on the neck, body, headstock, and archtop classic f-holes along with a spectacular Chicago Blue Pearl color finish. It features sterling EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e pickups, superb electronics, and rock-solid hardware you've come to expect from EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e.

Ltd. Ed. Emperor Swingster Blue Royale
The Ltd. Ed. Emperor Swingster Blue Royale features a hand-scalloped arched select spruce top with a laminated arched-back maple body, a combination that produces the round beautiful tone that EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e archtops are known for. The glued-in hard maple neck has an easy-to-play SlimTaper-D profile and a 24.75 scale length. The rosewood fingerboard has a 12 radius with 20 medium jumbo frets and features pearloid Emperor-style block inlays.

The headstock has the revered EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e œclipped ear style profile with the same vintage vine inlay pattern seen on prized vintage EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e archtops from the '40s and '50s. The body, neck, and headstock feature Royale-style Silver Sparkle multi-layer binding while the EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e-style f-holes have single layer binding. The rare and spectacular Chicago Blue Pearl finish is topped with a Royale Metallic Silver pickguard (with the iconic late-'50s era "E" for EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e) to make the Ltd. Ed. Emperor Swingster Blue Royale one of the most beautiful archtops EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e has ever produced.

SwingBucker Pickups with Royale Series/Parallel Switching
At the heart of the Swingster are EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e's new SwingBucker pickups, which feature a series/parallel electronics-switching package that outperforms all others in its class. Specially designed for the Emperor Swingster, SwingBuckers offer no-hum performance and feature classic Alnico-V magnets, enamel wire, and over-wound coils for the perfect combination of warmth and bite.

Two push/pull Tone controls with black Top Hats knobs with metal inserts allow you to change each SwingBucker's output individually from parallel to series wiring, creating a wide palette of incredible sounds ranging from warm humbuckers to "quacky" single-coil type sounds and everything in-between. Of course, any swinging machine needs a vibrato and the Swingster is no exception featuring a Bigsby B30 with original style "wire" handle, a favorite of archtop legends like Chet Atkins and Merle Travis.

Rock Solid EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Hardware
The Ltd. Ed. Emperor Swingster Blue Royale comes with EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e's world-famous rock solid hardware including a "Pinned" Rosewood bridge with adjustable Tune-o-matic bridge for superb intonation and a rock-and-roll classic Bigsby B30 Vibrato tailpiece with wire arm. Tuning is fast and reliable with legendary Grover Rotomatics machine heads with a pro-level 18:1 tuning ratio and the Blue Royale Swingster is tuned up at the factory with renown D'Addario strings (10-46). I normally do not like to give a review on something I just got, however, I am making an exception on the Swingster Royale based on my past experience on my other Swingster Royales I have purchased . So this is more of an overview of all of them, not just the Blue Royale.

I own all three of the Swingster Royale guitar line, so my observation is based on a few years of use on how they have performed over time.

Fit and finish have been impeccable on all three guitars. Build quality has not suffered over the years. The blue has the same quality as the white. I do not see where wood quality, binding or hardware has suffered due to trying to keep costs down etc....

These guitars have done very well in studio environment. The electronics have held up well, still no scratchy pots. Overall a very quiet guitar.

For a pretty guitar, it is actually rather tough. I live in PA, So weather changes a lot over the course of a year. In general, I need to do less tweaking on the neck and bridge than what I have had on a lot of more expensive and supposedly higher quality guitars. Play some outdoor shows in the fall/spring and you will know why this is an important feature.

These guitars will sound pretty good through just about any half decent amplifier. the pickups have a really nice, usable, range of sound. Yes, it is a hollowbody, and yes, you have to be aware of feedback.... and yes, it does good playing Nugent. It also does well playing Pass or Benson. It is an obvious choice for rockabilly or psychobilly and actually, pretty fun to play surf music on. I have even played iron Maiden, Judas Priest and others of that genre on these things... so, there ya go...

My only complaint... The Blue Royale comes with a regular tunomatic bridge, not a roller bridge. I can live with that, and it is an easy fix.

So, if you are looking for something kind of retro and flashy, can actually handle a wide array of musical styles and won't break the bank, this guitar is a great way to go.

.Let's face it. it's not a five star guitar. Five stars are for Gretsche White Falcons and Custom shop Strats and signature series Les Pauls... But it has Great looks, Solid build and you get features you find on more expensive guitar... However, unless you are good setting up guitars this thing will suck. Out of the box mine came with the pick-ups out of balance and needed extensive set-up adjustments by a professional Luthier to get the strings to have a balanced sound from each string. Speaking of strings, it comes with junk strings so buy a new pack of strings when you order this axe. Now that I have it sorted out it kicks butt and I'm as happy with it as I am with my 4K White Falcon.

.A great guitar overall, it sounds great, produces a warm full sound, plays easy, has a fast neck, and is absolutely gorgeous! I'm so glad I made this purchase, well worth the money in my opinion!

.The guitar is very beautiful. Looks and feels high quality. Plays wonderful right out of the box. Some minor string buzz way up..... The tremlo is wonderful, much better than the standard flat arm bigsby. The pickups are hot and great. The pull up pots don't seem to make a tremendous difference in tone, but they appear to be a lot hotter in the UP position. Even the strings that came on it are usable. (wound third). I thought I wanted the orange one, but this blue one was on the stupid deal and I am very satisfied with it. If you want a rockabilly looking guitar... this one is it! Might be hard to find a hard case for it. I know it will not fit right in my epliphone es355 case. Its a little thicker and the trem arm sticks up higher. (can't close lid). But I wouldn't change a thing about the trem.... best I've ever felt.... very soft and responsive.
