Received guitar in good order. Opened large box to find well packed EE-Epiphone-e box with said guitar inside. Opened EE-Epiphone-e box to find Worn Cherry Les Paul P90 Special well packed inside with no damage or issue. Very impressed how this is sent from EE-Epiphone-e. I'm not sure MF even handles it. I got the impression it came right from EE-Epiphone-e distribution which is fine.After unpacking, I was pleasantly surprised to find a very nice looking guitar that is beyond out of tune. Wasn't expecting it to be, strummed a few chords and had a good laugh. Couldn't help but notice not one sharp fret all the way up the fretboard, another pleasant surprise.
Tuned guitar up and played a few more chords up and down the fretboard. All sounded great and in tune. Can't believe the intonation being this good out of the box. Switch is solid and pots are firm to turn, not lose or lacking resistance. Finish is satin and does show life's finger marks which is fine, polished right off. Strings feel dry/tacky from likely a film to protect during shipping. Could wipe off but plan to restring immediately anyway. EE-Epiphone-e neck plate was upside down so a quick 180 took care of that. Neck screws are thinner than I would like but are satisfactory. The big surprise comes from taking of the pot plate to find a shielded cover and 500k Alpha pots which would explain why they had some substance when dialled in. Very susprised and impressed. Thanks EE-Epiphone-e, I won't be upgrading anything on this guitar!!
Now that it's restrung with Rotosound Pinks (best strings on earth) and fretboard lemon oiled, this guitar absolutely sings!! I am astounded by what I've pays and what I have. Plays and sounds fabulous. I am really pleased with this guitar, so much that I have ordered a TV Yellow for my son. These P90's have the best in high and low bite through my Peavey Stereo Chorus 2x12. I play clean, this is the amp for it and now I have the guitar for it. Unbelievable for the money. Highly recommend getting one!!!!!

I bought and received this guitar about a month and a half ago, in the worn TV yellow finish. I've always wanted a guitar with p90s, and I've always wanted a les paul. I'm not some 10 year old who just got his first guitar. I have played guitar for 13 years now, and have done luthier work for two+ of those years. so i like to think i know what I'm talking about. I bought this guitar last minute as an add on to an order for a bunch of accessories. I had never even seen it in person before. But I figured at that price, how could I go wrong? The guitar showed up at my front door very promptly. From placing the order to unboxing took all of 5 and 1/2 days. It was excellent condition, along with the rest of my order. No flaws in the fit and finish of everything. The fret ends were a tad bit sharp, but that was to be expected with an instrument of this price. And it was nothing I couldn't fix with all of ten minutes with a fine file. The satin finish on the neck feels like home. The size of the neck is a nice change of pace from my ibanez, and really didn't take much getting used to. The fretboard is a surprisingly nice chunk of rosewood, and the inlays are pearloid (which iI plan on swapping out with paua abalone). The pots, 3 way toggle, and input are all very solid which surprised me, as I've heard bad things about Chinese made electronics. The pickups are snappy and bright, with very little single coil hum. The bridge is incredibly simple and effective. And after dealing with a Floyd rose for the last year and a half, frankly feels like a godsend. Super comfortable when palm muting. It stays in tune very well. And with playing for a couple hours a day I find myself retuning only once every couple of weeks or so, and retuning should be completely eliminated once I throw some hipshot locking tuners on. Again, I expected to be retuning much more frequently with no-name tuners and that low price tag. The body and neck is advertised as solid mahogany, but it feels far too light to be mahogany in my opinion. Feels like basswood with a mahogany veneer to me. Despite it being a bolt-on neck, all frets are easy to reach with my average sized guy hands. The nut is made of what looks like cheap plastic, but is really quite resonant. If you want a guitar with a lot of different features, this is not for you. But in my humble opinion this guitars best features is the lack of them. Just plug it in, turn up the volume, and play. You will focus less on the instrument and more on your playing. The instrument was set up perfectly when it arrived. A bit out of tune but that's to be expected with temperature and humidity changes while being shipped. The factory strings were 9's i believe, and they were horrible. Instantly i clipped them and threw on some power slinky 11's. Now it sounds and feels better. The grain of the "solid mahogany" is visable through the tv yellow, and i love that. There is a small brown spot on the grain, on the left front side of the guitar. But to me that just adds character, and i call it a birthmark. Don't buy this expecting to play black metal with it, for gods sake it has p90s. But you can easily get some good grunge, punk, and SOME modern rock tones from it. Anything clean also sounds great. They have the warmth of humbuckers, and the snap and twang of single coils. I usually buy a budget guitar expecting to put at least another couple benjamins into it. But honestly, straight from the factory (with a little tlc, and setup mind you) i could see this guitar lasting me for decades to come. My only complaint is that i don't have enough money to buy ten more of them to practice some refinishing ideas, and modify. Take my advice people, get yourself two or three of these before epi realises how hot they are and jacks the price up.Epiphone Les Paul Special I P90 Electric Guitar Worn Black
.Well, I really didn't expect much in this price range, but this guitar is amazing! The fit and finish are both excellent, and even the cheap tuners are fully functional, I see no reason to replace them. There is a hint of scratchiness in the selector switch, but some pot scrubber will most likely clear that up. The strings went immediately in the garbage as they were some of the worst I've ever played. The finish is matte on both the mahogany body and neck, and mine is flawless, and you can see the grain through the finish. The fretboard is smooth rosewood with beautiful figure and tight grain, and well sanded. The frets are level and polished, with no corrosion. The strings are correctly spaced on the neck, but the nut could use the slightest attention to dress up the slots and lower the low E srting. The intonation is amazingly close, as close as possible with this type of bridge design. Just be aware that the bridge will come off if you remove all of the strings at once (you don't want it bouncing across the face of your guitar). The truss rod turns freely and came properly adjusted. The string height needed lowering, but that was an easy fix. The P90 sound great through my Fender tube amp. The volume and tone controls operate smoothly, have speed knobs. This guitar is worth about three times what I paid for it. It's hard to believe that you can get this much guitar and this much value for the price. Really, I don't believe that there is a better deal out there!

.I picked up the faded yellow. Wood grain shows through the satin finish and just looks great. I've owned $1000 guitars that didn't feel this "right".
Along with Telecasters and hot single coils I've always considered Les Paul Jr's with P90's the ultimate workhorse guitars. I saw the LPS with not one but two P90's at Guitar Center and had to see if it was anything more than a kids guitar. For the price you'd expect wood types from who knows where, cheap componets and bad vibes.
I've played for three decades, owned tons of guitars and this is without a doubt the best money I've ever spent on new gear. It's plays great and screams through my amps . The tuners are average and might need an upgrade but the other compomets are top notch. I don't like necks with binding or a ton of paint on the back. The LPS has a nice satin feel due to the worn finish options. It's fairly light and even with the nice bolt on neck is very acoustic. A Gibson Les Paul Jr has a set neck and 1 P90 pickup. This Epi is a steal and I'll put it on stage with no reservation
I've seen worse QC on guitars costing hundreds more.
Look at the specs and the price. Amazing bang for the buck.

.I bought a yellow one a year ago. I was interested in a lightweight shorter scale guitar as I mostly play Fenders, and also something I could work on and not worry about ruining. Out of the box it was OK, but it soon needed adjustments. The set bridge wasn't able to hold the tuning up to what my ears are used to, so I replaced it with a tunomatic bridge - this required plugging the holes of the old bridge with dowels and drilling new holes. While I was at it, I put on a surface mounted tremolo - both of these parts I got from a well-known internet discount supplier. So it worked OK for a while and then the tuners started slipping, so I replaced them with a set from the same place. Next, I found I was scratching the surface with my pick strumming so I bought a cheap black pickguard and cut it to fit. Then I repositioned the pickup switch, which my right hand was knocking off and on, so that it moves horizontally. Now the yellow guitar was working pretty good, but about 6 months later it got sloppy again and I had to adjust the truss rod and redo the intonation. But I couldn't get it exactly right so I took it to Shawn the guitar pro and he set it right! This guitar is very light, stays in perfect tune, looks great and the P90 pickups give it a unique sound compared to my other guitars. I do most of my practicing with it and have brought it on a few gigs. For just over double my initial investment I got some experience and a worthy instrument.

In 35 years of playing I have not been so EXCITED about grabbing my guitar, I have 5 others presently but this cherry colored P-90 beastie gets played daily.Increadible value, wonderful sound came out of the box ready to play tuned it and off and running!!!
Solid Mahogny slab of wood and P-90's nothing says rock and roll like that, its dirty and raunchy and gritty.
I was online shopping for a set of P-90's to throw in my other LEs Paul, came across this and figured hey I get a WHOLE guitar for almost the cost of a good set of P-90's and don't have to cut up my 03 Les Paul.....perfect!!! And it is!

.I am 36 years old and have been playing guitar since I was 12, and modding them since I was 16. I play mostly punk and hard rock with a bit of classic/glam rock al a David Bowie, The Stones, Slade, The New York Dolls, Suzie Quattro, Joan Jett, The Runaways, you get the picture. My main guitars are a 1995 Fender Kurt Cobain Signature Jaguar, a 2003 Gibson Les Paul Special Double Cutaway, and a 1982 Gibson Sonex Custom. I also have a 1999 Fender MIM Stratocaster that I did a custom build on, and that's what I bought this EE-Epiphone-e for, to basically customize and experiment with without worry of wasting money. Little did I know what I was getting right out of the box.
My first thought after pulling this LP Special out of the box was how low the action was from the factory. I don't typically even pay attention to the action on any guitar when I first get it as I know it will need to be completely set up to my liking, and these are things that are not only subjective to the player, but they should also be expected. People on here that give a guitar 3 stars and their only complaints are the action was high, the neck needed adjusted, and the frets needed filed drive me crazy. These things are not reflective of the guitar people, they are temporary inçonveniences that I want set to my personal liking anyway, so don't bash the guitar until AFTER you get it set up. Anyway, I must have played it for 2-3 hours right out of the box and IT WAS FUN!!! Nice slim neck that is fast, which is very important to me with my little hands. The EE-Epiphone-e stock P90's kick major butt, they growl when you need them to and are cleàr and airy when desired. If I compare them to the Gibson P90's I'd have to say they are different, but not in a bad way. Just different. Which is what I wanted anyway, I already have a Gibson, and I was going to customize my sound in this one anyway. All in all I loved it right out of the box. Expect to have a pro setup done and you're good to go. Very gigable.

.Ordered this for my son as a beginner guitty. When I put strings on for him and measured the string height & set up I put it up for the night to let it settle. I retuned in the morning and played it for a while-to the point that my wife took it away from me! I am very satisfied with this instrument. I have a USA Tellie & MIM as well. I also have had 2 LP's and a 335. My experience is broad so believe me when I say that this is an excellent playing guitar for beginners or anyone else. Tone and sound are actually quite nice.
I've noticed the reviews with people complaining about quality control and the non adjustable intonation. 1. It isn't a problem to me and this is how these guitars were originally made. 2. This is not a '59 VOS. Let it go! 3. Ok -the tuners could be better but once I get it in tune it seems to hold just fine for as long as any of my high end axes. Maybe the heavier complaints on this are from players who haven't strung it properly. GUYS! Get over it. You get your money's worth and then some. Buy a set of Klusons and hush!!
Thinking about buying one of these? Don't be concerned-believe me it is worth every penny and I enjoy playing it. I guess I will let my son have it back and order a red one for me!

.Got this for last Christmas from my wife. It's an amazing guitar for the money. Plays great, feels nice in your hands. The P90's absolutely make this guitar what it is. P90's sound like no other pickups. In this body they have a warmth and chime you'd expect to hear from a guitar four times or more it's cost. The neck is very nice, Thick but not too think. It feels solid. Much lighter overall wieght then other LP's that I've played...which is great for younger folks or older folks like me with back issues :^) It also looks great. I have the worn black model and it's flat out gorgeous. I'm working replacing all the hardware with black hardware, just to have the guitar be completely black. That being said I have had no issues with the hardware. I'm very pleased with the fixed wraparound bridge. Very surprised at how good the intonation was right out of the box. I've used this guitar for recording a lot. It sounds great in the mix, meaning it has a very distinct sound that cuts through without being overpowering.
I honestly have nothing bad to say about this guitar. I own six guitars of various makes and this is one of my favorites.

Great guitar for the money. A little more attention to the fret job would make it a great guitar period.This guitar has minimal electronics with a three way switch, one master volume and one master tone. Simple but effective. Bridge is minimal without individual intonation adjustment on strings - the whole bridge can be adjusted as one. The most outstanding feature is the P-90s. This is the first time I've played P-90s. My other guitars have Fender Hot 50s and PAF Gibson humbuckers. These EE-Epiphone-e P-90s are a perfect addtion. They're forte is not clean sound, although gain low and master high on my Fender Blues Junior can certainly achieve it. Where they shine is when you turn up the gain and maybe add a little (or, go for it and add a lot) of overdrive. Tweak knobs and there's a wicked range of tones at your disposal.
I haven't compared these P-90s to US made, but I'm very happy with them. I actually bought the guitar for the neck and pickups and will be making my own body. It may be a P-90 thing; it may be the tone wood on this guitar; it may be peculiar to these pickups, but they are big on middle and low end but not strong in the treble range even at the bridge. But this ain't a Tele, either. The LP body is just a flat board with no topology but it is well made and finished. Neck is well made. I've spent a little time adjusting bridge heigth and intonation and have it near where I want it with little to no buzz. My one complaint is that the fret ends are not well dressed - they have noticably rough edges that detract from playability. I understand that this is a typical side effect of machine produced budget guitars, so in this regard, you get what you pay for. If you're a little handy, you can fix the problem; if you're not, you can live with it and it will probably smoothe out over time. Satin finish is very nice and makes for a playable neck. Not a blemish on it. Electronics seem very solid. Tuners hold tune like they're supposed to, but at least one feels a little tight. When I rebuild, I'll change them. My quality rating is compared to lots of guitars, not just those in this price range. Except perhaps for the fret edges, the quality is what I'd expect of this price range.
What, are you kidding? Have you seen the low price? It is hard to find a used guitar at a pawn shop for lower. Drive a little less for a couple of weeks and make your own coffee and then buy this guitar. Unless you own a Porsche, you'll have a whole lot more fun with the guitar. If you do own a Porsche, then what are you reading the review about value for?
