Premium Rock
The EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e ES-295 Premium features a maple body with a maple top finished with aged-style lacquer. The top has 3-layer Ivory/Black/Ivory binding while the body back and fingerboard have single layer Ivory binding. The Cream pickguard is just like the original with the same classic floral graphic. The Hard maple neck has a comfortable and easy to play "1960's" SlimTaper D profile and is hand-set and glued to the body. The Rosewood fretboard has 20 medium jumbo frets, a 12 radius, pearloid Split "Parallelogram" inlays, and a 1.68 nut. The Sloped Dovewing headstock is the same profile seen on all of EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e' classic guitars from the '60s and features a pearloid "EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e" logo and "Crown" inlay. The 2-layer black/white truss rod cover has œES-295 Premium in white.

The Ltd. Ed. ES-295 Premium is powered by two Gibson USA Dogear P-90 pickups. For many guitar aficionados, there' no better single coil pickup than a P-90, which was Mr. Les Paul' first choice for his debut solid body guitar, the Les Paul. For the EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e ES-295 Premium, the rhythm position has a Gibson USA Dogear P-90R and the lead position has a Gibson USA Dogear P-90T wound slightly hotter for soloing. To put it simply, I could not be more pleased with my purchase. I am a professional instructor and don't have the time or patience to play an inferior instrument. I am so happy with this guitar that I produced an extensive video demo that you can find on YouTube. This guitar is capable of producing any tone and showcasing any style that you can dish out.What is the first thing you would normally do when purchasing a lower end guitar? You got it, swap out the cheap electronics. The American made Gibson pickups are dead quiet and are perfectly balanced in all positions. The guitar is also equipped with full size pots. The tone is amazing whether you're going from clean to mean or anything in between.
This guitar was ready to play right out of the box with just the right amount of relief in the neck. I like my action set to 4/64 on the bass side an 3/64 on the treble side. This is a personal preference and I was able to lower it just a tad with no problem and zero buzzing up and down the neck. The neck is just a shade wider than I'm used to but that works out great for fingerpicking and not getting cramped in the lower register.
I would completely ignore the user review below that states you need spend additional money "to make it play right". The guitar intonates perfectly, stays in tune, has an extremely comfortable action and does everything as advertised. Anything else should be considered personal preference, not a defect or poor workmanship. A lot of folks complain about the Bigsby. This is not a defect, you know which Bigsby you are getting when you purchase the guitar. They are easy enough to swap out if that is what you desire.

Reportedly made by the well-regarded Peerless factory in So. Korea, EE-Epiphone-e's copy of the legendary Gibson ES-295 is an improvement over earlier versions produced in the 90s, mostly notably in the use of "Gibson USA" P-90 pickups and the bronze/"bullion gold" finish (earlier Epi's had a rather flat yellow finish). This guitar has a look and feel that is very similar to the Gibson model (which sells for well over $6000). The original ES-295s were, like its cousin, the 175, intended to be an affordable, working man's "jazzbox" of the 50s, using laminated wood, and despite the eye-catching color, was rather plain, lacking fancy binding and stylish accoutrements. This EE-Epiphone-e is intended to capture the hearts and wallets of retro-conscious players, particularly the rockabilly devotees. This is why EE-Epiphone-e chose to attach a "Bigsby Licensed" vibrato arm to their model, the B70 version with the extra bar, which makes changing a string time-consuming and labor-intensive (good luck changing a string mid-set). Scotty Moore, with whom the 295 will always be associated, did not use a Bigsby, and in my opinion this guitar does not need it to serve as an affordable, great -sounding version of an absolute classic. I have an older version of this guitar. The difference between the new EE-Epiphone-e 295 and my older version is really one that exceeded my expectations. The new 295 is truly a pro grade instrument! The pickups on the new version are fantastic! This guitar can sound mellow and jump to switchblade bite with a flick of the toggle. I have fears when buying a guitar that I've not played. However Custom Guitars Friend have been great to work with if you get a product that doesn't meet your expectations! So, I did not have any problems with this purchase! All I had to do was raise the action a bit to my preference. I play Chess era Blues. I love backing a Blues Harp and this guitar gives me that Robert Jr. style sound. It also gives Kent era B.B. King bite! Now you need to realize that all guitars differ. Mine was just right for my style. Having said that, Everything is solid on my guitar. Electronics are great and the neck plays wonderfully! I use flat wound strings. and play a Blues/Jazz style. This guitar I'm sure would be great for Rockabilly players also. I'm very satisfied with my purchase! .First it's worth starting off by saying I like this guitar and chose to keep it rather than send it back. I did get a discounted price on a Gold color one (no case) and it looks awesome. My guitar came with real heavy stings. The third string was wound. I changed the strings to my preferred set 48 - 38 - 28 - 17 (not wound) 12 and 10 and then tried to set the harmonics. But if you look real close at the pic the bridge is slanted closer to the neck on the high string side. I could not get the G sting in tune at the 12 fret it read sharp. But I adjusted the string saddle a far back as I could. Recently I raised the action and it helped make it better but still not spot on. I'm actually considering changing the bridge with one that has a bigger adjustment range. I love the Bigsby on guitars and will live with making some tuning adjustments while playing a gig. But this Bigsby model in my opinion is not a good design. The pitch is too steep from the bridge to the Bigsby, take a look for yourself. I bought a BricksBiggsFix which made the tuning stable when using the Bigsby and changed the pitch to be more gradual. It also made the Bigsby use more spongy not stiff like the way it was. Keep in mind that I own a couple of Gretch Guitar and a Guild with a Bigsby. But these guitar are much better made with a better designed Bigsby so I may be spoiled when comparing this guitar to those. Really my other guitar cost more than twice and some more than three times as much as the ES 295 did. Since I got a deal on the guitar I'm using the money I saved to bring the guitar up to a higher usable gig standard. That is why I kept it. If you are willing to do that it's worth buying, if not I would pass. Remember I like the guitar so I'm spending additional money to make it play right. You have to be willing to do that if you want to take it out on a gig date.

.This is a great guitar. Somehow I got it for 200 less than advertized without case on this site. The price is now back to regular now it seems..
Anyway it has a wide neck that is somewhat less 'girthy" than my Gibson Memphis 1959 Historic VOS ES 175. And you know what, I kind of prefer it over the Gibson! Beautiful matte lacquer Gold with a fast neck and Gibson pickups (P-90s). A great guitar. Especially great for the money.

.I gave this five stars based on value. I have a large collection of Gibsons and would love to have a 295, but can't see dropping 7-8k on a gold top. I bought the epiphone instead for 742.00 open box...but had no idea how much I'd like it. I don't plan on using it for gigs, but I imagine it would do just fine. Maybe just a minor setup by a good guitar tech, but seems to play great right out of the box IMO.

.First things first. If you haven't checked out the video from MyTwangyGuitar you should straightaway. It gives a great overview of the tones you can expect from this guitar. That video and his review highly influenced my purchase.
I have several Gretsch guitars, a Setzer signature 6120 Nashville and a DuoJet among others. The workmanship on this guitar is not as nice as the workmanship on Professional series Gretsch, but for the money it is pretty nice. Much nicer than what you would expect from a guitar in this price range.
The one thing that surprised me about the guitar is that the finish is matte. I wasn't expecting that. I have an EE-Epiphone-e '56 Goldtop and was expecting a gloss finish. I ended up using several applications of Dunlop Carnauba guitar wax on the back of the neck and along with playing it daily the neck feels quite good now.
The strings are D'Addario but they made my fingers black so I swapped them out with some Thomastik-Infeld flatwounds and the guitar plays like butter now. I'm used to stringing Bigsbys so there was no problem switching strings. The Bigsby works great. I believe the B70 is the cheaper version of the B7 and I was impressed how solid it felt and how well the guitar stayed in tune.
Like MyTwangyGuitar I lowered the strings, but found that on mine 4/64" put the bass strings too close to the bridge pickup, so I raised it up to 5/64". EE-Epiphone-e sets the guitars up at 6/64". There is no way to adjust the bridge pickup down short of shaving the spacer that goes between the guitar body and the pickup.
Unlike the Gretsch 6120 Setzers which use the "1959 Trestle" bracing, these guitars are just braced lengthwise on the back of the top. To me this sounds better because you hear the body of the guitar. The Trestle bracing is better for minimizing feedback but the top on my 295 sounds wonderfully resonate.
Aside from a few very small minor issues which I mentioned above, I absolutely LOVE this guitar. Lately it's become my go to guitar.
