Product Features

The EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Limited Edition 1966 G-400 Electric Guitar is a Gibson-authorized version of their great '66 SG with a solid mahogany body and slim-taper set mahogany neck. Some subtle-yet-significant differences make this one special. Instead of the small, lower horn-only pickguard, it has the larger pickguard so there aren't any pickup mounting rings around the high-output Alnico Classic Pro humbuckers (the '66 SG had P-90 pickups).

Separate volume and tone controls for each of the pickups give you complete control of your sound and allows for a miriad of tones. The LockTone tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece provide more sustain and make string changing easier. The deep double-cutaway body lets you reach all 22 frets with ease. Case sold separately.

When this EE-Epiphone-e "Limited Edition" (1966) G-400 Pro guitar arrived it blew my mind right out of the box! The intonation and setup is near perfect ! Sounds great! The slim taper neck is a dream to play. Every bit as good as the original 1966 Gibson SG I used to own. The green tulip Wilkinson tuners are really NICE and neck inlays and overall craftsmanship is EXCELLENT ! This guitar has the "dual volume knob" coil taps which I really like. You pull the volume knob UP to get a single coil sound and push it DOWN to get the humbucker sound. This is a very good feature to get a variety of sounds with the Classic Alnico pickups. I have been playing this for a couple days now and it holds tuning very well. I've been playing this through a new Fender Mustang 1 amp and I can tell already that this guitar will be one of my main guitars for recording. This is one of the finest EE-Epiphone-es I have ever owned and I'm so glad I bought it from Custom Guitars Friend at a reduced price of [$].

I picked around on one of these babies at GC while waiting on a buddy. I have to say I was really impressed. I already have a couple of EE-Epiphone-es and neither have ever impressed me enough to do a show with. But this one I just couldn't get it out of my mind so I ordered one from MF. It played and sounded incredible right out of the box! I couldn't believe it; it was set up perfectly right down to the intonation. The pick ups are hot and they sound great. I own a 335 I bought new in 1989, a 339, and AAA Les Paul standard all 100% Gibson... and they all 3 are staying safe at home while I'm now gigging with this little darling. It is without doubt the biggest bang for the buck I have ever gotten in an ax and I think I am going to buy another one... just because!

This is a fantastic guitar. It plays and feels much better than my 2001 EE-Epiphone-e g400. It has better tone and a better finish than my 2004 Gibson SG special. The finish is beautiful. Then neck is fast and straight. It is not neck heavy like other G400s. This guitar is hard to put down. Any SG lover can appreciate this guitar for its value and performance.

.I purchased this instrument for a great price. I couldn't wait to get it in my hand's. When it arrived and I unpacked it and started my inspection. (I adhere to the 3 F theory " Fit , Finish and Functionality") . First the Finish: Terrible. Second the Fit: In need of a good setup . The setup that came to my door was
terrible. Third Functionality: The strings when plucked worked ,the electronic's all worked. I said ok I purchased this instrument to play not polish
and look at. I tightened All of the Screw's, I mean everyone. The I set the trues rod and bridge and intonation. PERFECT. Now ,time to see what this bad boy can do. Amazing it doesn't seem to have any limitations except the expertise of the player. Needless to say I was blown away. The guitar is so amazing that the Finish became a non issue in that age old debate should I send it back and demand the picture perfect instrument in the picture. Of the 6 most noticeable imperfections in the finish I realized the 7th would be returning this incredible guitar. I can live with a bad finish but I can't live with a bad guitar. So my advice to you is this: If the Fit is good and the Functionality is good the rest (Finish) is in the eye of the beholder. For my money I got the best sounding and playing Guitar that was ever made.Sir Edward P.S. Always remember the 3 F's: Fit , Finish and Functionality.

.I got This 4 years ago, Besides my first guitar being a Dean Vendetta, I got this because of Angus Young.... Being a die hard ACDC fan when I was younger... watching him on stage was better then six flags in my opinion : ) Overall it is a Solid guitar... I picked this over this Gibson Faded SG, So that should tell you something in difference.... I still have,LOVE and play this... Everyday....

.The EE-Epiphone-e Limited Edition SG Pro is a great deal on a solid guitar. I bought this intending to make it a project guitar by switching out the electronics and perhaps some of the hardware. However, when I received it, it was just a really great guitar right out of the box. I did have to do a basic setup on it, but other than that and conditioning the fretboard, it was perfect for me. The finish had a couple of small flaws, but they were so insignificant that I didn't notice them for a couple of days. And in this price range the finish was so much better than I expected. The fit is perfect. The neck was perfectly adjusted. All corners and edges are fitted correctly. All screws were properly tightened. I noticed that the screws on the back control cavity cover were made of a little softer metal than what I like to see. When I checked them for tightness I could feel the metal where the phillips head screwdriver contacted them giving a little. I will replace those with better stainless steel screws if I ever have a need to open that cavity.
I typically play strats, tele's and pauls, but the neck on this SG has a different shaped profile. It's more of a "D" shape than the other guitars I own. It only took a little while to get used to that different shape, and I don't even think about it when switching between guitars now. The other difference between SG's and the other style guitars is that they hang differently when using a strap because of the location of the strap buttons. Just something to keep in mind if you haven't played a SG before.
I love the coil tapping function so that I can switch from humbucker pickups to single coil for a brighter, thinner sound when needed. I did add straplocks to this guitar, but the original strap buttons are fine if you aren't doing stage work. The strings that came on the guitar were pretty cheap and I replaced those right away with my preferred brand and gauge.
If I do anything to this guitar in the future it will probably be changing the nut from plastic to bone, and dressing the edges of the fret wires. Neither is a problem, but those things are usually just a nice touch and upgrade on any less expensive guitar.
I had actually been looking at buying this guitar for awhile but kept putting it off because I didn't really need another guitar. After receiving this one I wish I had bought it earlier. It's a great guitar for beginner or an experienced pro that just wants a decent back up guitar.

.This guitar is basically a 1960's EE-Epiphone-e SG model. I was looking for a white SG model that wasn't the horrible new 2014 Gibson SGs and stumbled onto this awesome guitar. When I saw it also had the coil-splitting feature, I was sold and ordered it. Sadly, it was on backorder for a few months, but it was worth the wait.

The guitar came in looking pristine and built solid. The factory setup was pretty bad to be honest (buzzy and bad intonation) but after getting new strings and a professional setup, the guitar feels fantastic and sounds great. EE-Epiphone-e pickups are usually generally considered pretty low quality, but these sound clear, bright, and fairly good as opposed to the muddy and dark pickups on my EE-Epiphone-e Dot. The coil-splitting works great and the pickups sound good both humbucking and as single coils. They have a medium output which is great for a variety styles.

The finish and the aesthetics of the guitar are very nice. The output, electronics, and knobs feel solid and well-built. The neck is comfortable and the fretboard feels great. It's not as pretty as more expensive guitars, but the inlays are a nice touch.

WARNING: This guitar as a very thick neck that some people would not enjoy. It's kind a of a retro-style neck and feels very thick and large as opposed to many others I have played. I personally love the thicker neck, though it does seem to outweigh the light-weight SG body so there is a bit of neck-dive, which is common with SG guitars.

Overall, I am very happy with this purchase, and it has become my primary guitar. It's unique, looks and sounds great, and sort of feels like a blast from the past. I play in a rock/metal band and I feel this guitar has the signature SG sound reminiscent of Tony Iommi and classic metal, though its clean sounds are very nice as well and I use the guitar for a variety of styles. Despite how cheap this guitar goes for, it's not cheaply made and is high quality for an EE-Epiphone-e guitar. I recommend it!

.professional quality and the feel - tone and sustain I find to be just as good even better than the Gibson Standard SG. the EPIPHONE G-400 SG PRO is simply a Brilliant Guitar.
Epiphone Limited Edition 1966 G-400 PRO Electric Guitar Ebony
.I got the Pelham Blue, and actually a factory 2nd (slight finish nick on upper horn, barely noticable). Saved a nice chunk of change. Besides that nick, the finish quality is excellent, and it is a very sharp looking guitar. The playabilty and electronics were completely unaffected, and quite good out of the box. These were the most important factors to me, as this is meant to be a hard working, gigging axe. The setup was very good, but some small finishing touches to the nut and intonation turned a good playing guitar into an amazingly sweet player. I used to dislike Epi pickups, but recently they have improved greatly. The alnico classic pro's in this guitar show none of the weakness and muddiness I've heard from less recent examples. They have good response and power, with a very even tone. The coil splitting is extremely useful, taking into account the slight volume loss, and gives a decent single coil sound. Not as sharp as a good Strat pup, but still very useful for live show purposes. The guitar is slightly neck heavy, but nothing a good leather strap can't deal with. Overall, with just the tiniest tweaks, this budget guitar has become my main back-up axe on stage, and my go-to for certain recording uses. DO NOT be put off by the name or price, with a little know-how this guitar can be the equal of its WAY more spendy Gibson brethren! Also this model is no longer in production, so strike while the iron is hot. I've had excellent luck with Epi's that carry the 'Limited Edition Custom Shop' stamp like this one, and very highly recommend them. Bear in mind that I also own two high end PRS guitars (a Modern Eagle Quattro and a 513), so I'm not easily impressed!

.i got the pelham blue guitar a couple months ago. it was set up pretty good out of the box. the action may be a little higher than some people prefer, but its not bad. plus, i like to play some slide, so not a problem for me. i wouldnt call mine a slim taper neck, it is actually pretty chunky. it is only a tiny bit smaller than my classical guitar, but its very comfortable and easy to get around. the pickups could be better i suppose, but pretty good for the price. the only issue i have is i wish the pickups split to the outside coils instead of the inside. but over all a great guitar for the money. plays good, sounds good, and looks killer. my current favorite
