I won't bother repeating too much what others have said about the excellent quality of this guitar, both in terms of tone and in terms of craftsmanship. For the price, it can't be beaten and will not disappoint. However, it is still no Gibson. Tonally I'm sure it will compete well with a true Les Paul when plugged into a good amp, however the purist will be disappointed to find that the back of the body is a thin mahogany veneer. This cleverly conceals the fact that the body and neck are made of multiple random off-cuts of mahogany which would never find their way into a Gibson. My particular guitar (body and neck) is made of at least 6 off-cuts of mahogany, not including the split veneer on the back, the split maple cover, and the fretboard. This comes to at least 11 pieces of wood going into my guitar. With that many bits of wood, that much glue, and that many seams, you do want to be sure you're not leaving this out in the sun too long, or leaving it in a really cold garage for long periods of time. It may not stand up to the test of time like a more expensive guitar. So you're not exactly getting a bargain - you're getting exactly what you pay for. This detail seems to have evaded detection in other reviews and may prompt some to pay the full price for a Gibson which is almost guaranteed to be made of top-quality wood.That being said, a discerning guitarist ought to test a few of these guitars before making a purchase, thereby avoiding bodies with unintended 'dead-spots'. If you're not really sure if you'd be able to spot a dud, then to be brutally honest this particular issue won't be bothering you that much anyway. Not to sound too patronizing, but you could save yourself some trouble (and money) and just get an even cheaper guitar. It is a sad fact of life that many guitarists spend ungodly amounts of money for instruments and equipment that they can never actually appreciate.
I am a lefty and unfortunately had no real choice per avoiding 'duds' - I was forced to buy the only one in the shop, but fortunately it plays brilliantly. I have always been searching for the Paul Kossoff tone and after playing the solo to 'All Right Now' (which really brings out the best in a good guitar/amp combination as it occupies a lot of space along the fretboard and requires a lot of sustain from the body) found the guitar to respond perfectly. I am no virtuoso but it adequately reflects my command of the guitar.
Other lefties beware - as with most left-handed guitars, the volume and tone nobs have been wired backwards by idiots and '0' is in fact full volume/tone, while '10' is the opposite. I've rewired all my previous guitars to get around this, but owing to the fact that the push/pull pots have small circuit boards attached, and the entire guitar actually has a small and quite intricate wiring harness, fixing this problem is not going to be easy for an amateur electrician (such as myself). I've wired my own push-pull pots with coil-splitting humbuckers but none quite as advanced as this.
I am surprised to see reviewers noting poor build quality. This is a rather poorly educated comment and should be ignored, in my opinion. Remember that you are not buying a Gibson - you are going for the budget brand and you get what you pay for. It needs to be said that EE-Epiphone-e's build quality has improved markedly over the years. I have an old SG G-400 I bought years ago and every single component of the Les Paul Standard is superior - from the tuners on the neck and the tuners on the bridge, to the frets, to the pick-ups, etc. Again, as I said, this guitar is worth every penny. You cannot find a guitar (new) for this money, of this quality and with this many good features. Just be weary of 'duds' and if you're a lefty, expect mild but bearable buggeration. I hope this helps people make a more informed decision.

.I must say, I was exceptionally impressed with this guitar. I A/B-ed it with an actual Gidson Les Paul with BurstBucker Pros using a Tiny Terror with same settinngs, and this Epi had more clarity, and the finish was just as quality as the Gibson. ProBuckers have a lot of character, not as fuzzy as 490/498's. Was gonna swap the pickups with Duncan JB and Jazz set, but these ProBukers are exactly the tone I wanted. Grover Tuners are great; much better than the Kluson style on Gibson LP Studios. Also, the top is NOT VENEER like the plain top Epi LP Standard or Custom, it's an actual carved top!! Oh yeah, it's also real pretty. The Honeyburst is more accurate to vintage than the 2015 Gibsons, and this is the first flame-top Honeyburst I liked; I usually prefer plaintop Honeyburst.
I was between this and a Custom, but the custom didn't have the same attack, probably because it's not a carved top. The locking bridge/tail piece is a nice touch, better than stock Gibson TOM. I now have no reason to buy a Gibson LP Standard.
Epiphone Les Paul Standard PlusTop Pro Electric Guitar Wine Red
.I bought this guitar a couple of months ago for myself, to complement a Schecter Omen 6 I had gotten for my kids to learn on. I wanted a guitar that was different from the Omen 6, which has a Strat type body and humbucker pickups. The main thing that attracted me to this guitar, other than the classic LP body, was the split coil pickups, which is a great feature, giving the option of getting either a single coil or humbucker sound. The fret spacing on this guitar also seems to be a bit more compressed than the Omen 6, since I could reach fingerings on this guitar that were too far apart for me on the Omen.
The only problem was that the first EE-Epiphone-e that was sent to me had atrocious intonation that couldn't be fixed by fine tuning the bridge saddles. Custom Guitar's Friend was very helpful and shipped out a replacement at no cost. The second one had better intonation overall, but the properly tuned open G-string was too sharp when I fretted any notes on that string, meaning your could either have a perfect open D chord or open C chord, but not both. The saddle on the bridge which is used to adjust intonation was maxed out and couldn't be moved far enough toward the tailpiece to fix it.
I browsed some LP web forums and this seems to be a common problem with Gibsons/EE-Epiphone-es. Some people recommended changing the nut, the bridge, or reversing the saddle to allow you to lengthen the string at the bridge to make it less sharp. I tried the saddle reversal since it was the least hassle of those options. I found some websites that described how you can flip the saddle on a tune-o-matic bridge like this one to give it more travel space for intonation adjustments. This worked and the intonation is now perfect. I didn't even have to remove the strings to make this fix.
Overall now, this is a great guitar. I only took off a star because I think the factory can do a better job of truly adjusting the intonation before shipping them out. The Omen 6 I had gotten was perfect in that regard right out of the box.

.This axe is wonderful at using for rock and roll music if ya need that classic fuzz, modern low end grind, or just flat out in your face distortion. It has sonic delivery and great punch. Picking can sound crystal clean or dirty and overdriven. Full chords sustain as long as needed for Punk and Metal styles. It can scream too, for those "screaming solos". Feedback has that classic Les Paul style, great but without the unpleasent hiss or buzz. Solid and well put togather, even plays nice in lower tuning. I play mine tuned down a half step. Worth much more than the sale price, this is one of the best guitars I have seen or heard in a long time, totally Rock and Roll.

.This is my first online ordering experience with a guitar but I am so happy with it. I opened the box and was blown away with the beauty and craftsmanship of this guitar. Online pictures do not do it justice.
I picked the guitar up, tuned it, plugged it into a small peavey practice amp and started playing. The sounds were awesome and the guitar felt amazing and there was no fret buzz. The Humbucker/Single Coil pickup controls are great for a variety of sounds.
I am extremely happy with this purchase. I just don't want to set this thing down. It is amazing. I used to have a Gibson Les Paul Studio and this guitar is just as good or better. I will be playing guitar a lot more now.
The only problem with the online ordering is the 3 or 4 days I had to wait. It was killing me. I was like a kid waiting for Christmas morning.
I got it and now I am a Very Happy Customer...and it was worth the wait.

This is a really nice guitar. I bought one a couple of weeks ago. I have owned Gibson Les Pauls and this guitar plays and sounds about the same. It is very smooth, the fret work is superb, the pickups sound really nice and the controls are smooth and feel like good quality. I have been playing more than 50 years and have owned dozens of expensive guitars. This guitar plays as well as most of the guitars costing many times more. Play one and you will be pleasantly surprised. .I've had my guitar for a week now and since then I've gone through a couple of packs of strings, a couple dozen picks, and had the cops come out three times.
My only complaint is that it sat on a UPS truck all afternoon in the Florida sun. When I opened the box the guitar was so hot I could light a cigarette off of it. Upon visual inspection of the guitar I noticed that one of the volume controls was crooked. I thought one of the posts were bent, but it wasn't. I fixed it no problem with a screwdriver and a pair of pliers. ;) The pick guard was a little scratched up. It looked like it was either used or someone needs more practice with a dermal tool. That's why I give it four stars.
Other than that I just love this guitar and give it five stars.
I was a little nervous about ordering online but it came packed in a box that was done really well, and the free cardboard case that it came in (which was a plus) was packed nicely too.
After I got a good look at her and she cooled down a bit I decided to heat her up again. I tuned her up then plugged her in, and the sweet sounds that were coming from my amp would have made Mr. Lynyrd Skynyrd proud. The setup was perfect right out of the box. (Good job #24) The guitar has a nice deep rich tone, and as Mr. EE-Epiphone-e says: "Miles of sustain." (68 miles to be exact.)
I really like the coil tapping feature too. I can go from hammering out some Zeppelin to jamming with Stevie Ray without it sounding to meaty. It's like having two guitars in one that you only need to buy one case for, because frankly the free cardboard cases don't last that long. Especially if your dog makes a bed out of it.
All in all I am very happy with my purchase from Custom Guitars Friend. The hardest part was choosing which color to get... After about five excruciating minutes I decided on the Honey Burst. The guitar is everything I expected and more. I enjoy looking at it as much as I do playing it…and I've been playing it a lot. (hence the blisters on me fingers.)

What really puts the Pro/Plus Les Paul guitar ahead of the pack is the new ProBucker pickups, NO need to change these guys out, the tone, the crunch and sustain; the balance from neck to bridge is amazing, and, the split coil voices are very good too, kinda Straty, play with it after you buy one, just do it! .I have seen a lot of reviews comparing this guitar with a Gibson Les Paul, and right off I have to say that there really isn't any comparison. That said keep in mind that the price is about 1/4 of the best price you could find on a Gibson. The finish is probably the weakest aspect of this guitar and is like nothing you would ever find on a Gibson, but it actually looks very good, just not like a Gibson. The sound is very good, probably for most people as good as the Gibson. Playablity is excellent. All in all a very good bargain for the price.

.I've been playing guitar for about 30 years now, but at this point in my life it's more of a hobby, so the prospect of buying a $2000 Gibson Les Paul is not really a feasible option. I already own a EE-Epiphone-e Les Paul (Korean model that I bought in the mid 1990's) but it's been showing signs of wear and tear, so I wanted to pick up one of the newer models which I've heard so many good things about. Just got my new EE-Epiphone-e Standard Pro Plus Top the other day, which just looks spectacular with its Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish. The pickups sound great through my little Marshall amp, and all the stock hardware seems really solid. I always loved the neck on a Les Paul, and this one plays like a dream. For my style of playing, which ranges from heavy metal, hard rock, heavy blues, progressive rock, and a little jazz, Les Paul's are a perfect match. With this axe you can easily crank out some crunchy distorted riffs, sizzling solos, screaming pinch harmonics, fuzzy blues, and tender jazz. Alongside my other Epi Les Paul, Epi SG, Jackson Dinky, and Dean Schenker V, this new Les Paul will get plenty of playing time. For a fraction of the price of a Gibson Les Paul, you just can't go wrong and it comes very close to an actual Gibson.
