I went through about a dozen distortion pedals and this one had what sounded perfect to me. Lots of drive if you are looking for heavy metal that will knock you down, but it is crystal clear when soloing. When compared to the Metal Zone, the sound is thicker with no feedback that is so common with the Metal Zone.
Boss ML-2 Metal Core Distortion Pedal
.This pedal is for people that play REALLY heavy stuff. Not like Judas Priest metal, but like early Bring me the Horizon and Parkway Drive metal. While it is not versatile, if you are in need of something with brutal bass and screaming highs, this is the pedal. Pinch harmonics are incredible out of this thing, controls are easy to use, and the design is compact and sturdy. My only complaint is a low-end feedback when playing breakdowns. This may be because of the environment around my amp, or my amp itself. However, if you need bone-crushing distortion, I would not discourage you from buying this.

.From my own band to the bands I'm in at church, this pedal is perfect. Killswitch Engage to Chris Tomlin, this thing crushes. I play a Jackson dinky with duncans and a Schecter blackjack with duncan blackouts through a randall RT50C. Through abuse from me, my drummer, other guitarist, singer, and other musicians i play with, I've had no complaints. Metalheads will love this pedal, and so will everyone else. I'm going to get a noise gate or something to quiet hum down, but it's hardly noticable; I'm just a tone freak.

.If you want a pedal to make your guitar sound heavy?Buy this one and you will never look back. You will not getter better heavy riffs out of any other pedal!!!!
Boss ML-2 Metal Core Distortion Pedal
.I've had this pedal for about half a year now, and it still blows me away everytime. This pedal will give heavy riffs alot of extra grit and make solos scream. The settings I use are 11 o'clock for level and lows, and 3 o'clock for tone and distortion. Those settings make the craziest distortion for shredding. Amazing pedal.
Boss ML-2 Metal Core Distortion Pedal
.It's very good for a small 1x10 or 1x8 amp combo. Gives a full stack metal sound for a small amp. I would not use this for a live setup. It has a very lose metal sound. I like my metal riffs tight. I think this pedal sounds like the digitech grunge pedal. I was disappointed with the sound, but im keeping it because i like collecting pedals.I own over 30 effect pedals. Metal is a matter of preference. Rock on Dudes!
Boss ML-2 Metal Core Distortion Pedal
.I was a bit skeptical on getting this because the name was a bit cheesy and I thought it would be a try-hard pedal and just suck, but no. This pedal is amazing. It's more of a buzz than an overdrive pedal, but it's not supposed to be an overdrive now is it? You can get a very good metalcore, post-hardcore, or even deathcore sound out of this. I love it.
Boss ML-2 Metal Core Distortion Pedal
.I like alot of distortion, but this one sounds very unnatural. It just sounds like a bunch of buzz. Having bass & treble help tweak your tone, but the buzz is always the same timbre. All you'll hear is BZZZZZZ. Even the DS-1 is better sounding. Get something else.
Boss ML-2 Metal Core Distortion Pedal
.It DJ0NTs first of all. An extremely high gain pedal. I plugged this thing into a Roland Keyboard amp with no effects and my tone was KILLER. Add mids on the amp, that's all you need. Honestly running this throguh any amp with a decent speaker at any tuning is helpful. Also it's a durable little box, left her out in the rain after a show, she still runs fine. You can't a get a lighter distortion from this thing to be honest. You get metal, not classic rock. Handles drop tunings VERY WELL. Almost models a tube amp disto when cranked. Doesn't make excess noise, and I recommend using a cable instead of a 9v, that gives it the power it needs.
Boss ML-2 Metal Core Distortion Pedal
.I love this pedal. It sounds amazing. You can get those really distorted tones you hear from early Bring Me The Horizon and Whitechapel, but you can also get a small amount of distortion if you want. I saw the review that says it sounds digital. It must be an amp issue, because this sounds spectacular.
