Product Features

The RC-1 is BOSS' simplest and most user-friendly Loop Station ever, and it's a ton of fun. Since the RC-20 Loop Station was first released in 2001, BOSS has led the way by continually releasing new looping products. Though they've been used and enjoyed by various looping artists and performers, BOSS still pursued an easier and more affordable solution. The RC-1 is a straightforward looper that is easy to operate. Experience the fun of looping when you record, playback, overdub, and undo or redo loops using this compact BOSS stompbox. The RC-1 also retains the BOSS quality and performance that musicians around the world have come to expect and rely on.

On the top panel, there is a new and innovative loop indicator, which consists of a 24-segment LED laid out in a circular pattern. You can quickly and easily determine the current status of the Rec/Overdub/Play modes. With a maximum 12 minutes of stereo recording time, the RC-1 is capable of capturing any extended performance that you can create or imagine. The stereo in/out jacks can be used with stereo effects and amplifiers. Additionally, they allow you to connect stereo instruments, such as synthesizers. Other convenient features include battery and AC power, as well as flexible external footswitching capabilities. The RC-1 is an especially great partner to start enjoying looping.

Looping Made Easy
Designed with guitarists and bassists in mind, the RC-1 is all about instant musical satisfaction. Lean, mean, and housed in the rugged BOSS compact pedal case, the RC-1 lets you experience the fun of spontaneous loop creation with no complicated controls or features to get in your way. All looping functions can be accomplished with only the integrated pedal switch: record, overdub, play/stop, undo/redo, and clear. That may sound like a lot on paper, but in practice, it's incredibly natural to operate the RC-1 while playing. Beyond the pedal switch, the RC-1 has only one other control to be concerned with-to adjust the loop volume, just give the Level knob a twist. That's it.

Of course, you'll want to see what's happening while you're working with the RC-1, and the unique circular Loop indicator provides a wealth of info in a simple way. Via the indicator's 24 multi-colored LEDs, you get instant feedback on the current operation mode, plus the timing of the current loop. The BOSS RC-1 Loop Station delivers instant looping gratification with no hassles.

High-Quality Sound and Battery Power
The RC-1 Loop Station offers excellent sound quality to keep your tone intact and has up to 12 full minutes of stereo recording time for capturing super-long loop jams. The last loop session is stored in memory even when the power is turned off, so you can pick up right where you left off at the next practice session or gig. With up to 4.5 hours of battery operation, the RC-1 is a great looper for street performing, open-mic nights, and other situations where AC power is not readily available or you need to setup in a hurry. Of course, the pedal can also be powered by the industry-standard BOSS PSA-120s power adapter (sold separately).

Integrates with Mono or Stereo Rigs
Just like other BOSS compact pedals, the RC-1 fits nicely onto a pedal board alongside your favorite stomps. It can be used as a mono looper in a standard setup with a single amp, or in true stereo when chained in more sophisticated rigs with stereo modulation, delay, and reverb pedals.

Going beyond guitars and basses, the RC-1's stereo I/O is perfect for synth players and other musicians that use instruments with stereo outputs.

First time using a looper. Took a few tries to get used to the timing of using the pedal to create loops, but it's not difficult by any means. Been fun jammimg over chord progressions and riffs for as long as I want to. Still checking out tons of videos on YouTube for more ideas on what can be done and how to do it. Definitely worth getting one!
Boss RC-1 Loop Station
.I got this pedal a little over a year ago and everything was actually going great until I plugged it up recently and found that it all of a sudden is completely malfunctioning! It still records but does not count (with the lights) down the riff length back around to the start, the lights are just going around really fast, but it is playing back the loop…..even worse though, every time I stop the loop playing, IT ERASES!!! So, now I'm feeling like I wasted my money. I'm very disappointed in Boss about this one.
Boss RC-1 Loop Station
.I own several BOSS products and generally rate them very high quality. This unit is well built but the foot-switch is awkward. The sound quality is poor, with significant loss of signal even at full volume. Useful enough for jamming on your own but I wouldn't want to use it in a performance.
Boss RC-1 Loop Station
.I've wanted to get a looping pedal for a long time so I finally broke down and got this one. It's built like a tank and pretty easy to operate (only one knob). Right out of the box, I used it with my bass and keyboard. Also, with the help of a line level shifter, I was also able to loop vocals by hooking it up to the Aux outs on a mixer board. The only possible drawback is one I expected. Don't fool yourself into thinking using a looping pedal in performance is easy. It is not. I takes practice. But once you get the hang of it these things are a lot of fun.
Boss RC-1 Loop Station
.This is a great into to looping. Works great as a practice tool. I couldn't use it in performance without a foot switch, too many clicks. To stop recording and not overdub, you must click to stop, then click again to stop the overdub, then to stop the loop to play live, you have to double click. hard to do while starting back in with a guitar and stay in time with the guitar. Still it is a great little peddle.
Boss RC-1 Loop Station
.This pedal is unusable for performances, because every time you erase your loop to get ready for
the next song, it plays back the loop. No other Boss pedal does this--not the RC-20XL, not the RC-3.
I spoke to Boss, and they both admit the flaw and seem to have neither any workaround nor any
apparent interest in fixing the flaw that they admit. When I called Custom Guitar's Friend to return the
pedal, the fellow I spoke to admitted he had had the same problem and also returned his.

Good luck--it might be ok for home use only, but if you perform, you will be returning this one.
Boss RC-1 Loop Station
.Not as easy to use as I thought. It takes a lot of practice. It would have been better if it just recorded one thing and when you clicked it off it erased that recording. Some songs require more that one different recording and with each recording and erasing it requires five clicks on the pedal. Very distracting when you're trying to play and sing. That being said it's a ton of fun to play around with it just takes a while to get proficient with it.
Boss RC-1 Loop Station
.Very basic unit, but well built. Ideal for beginners but it can't sequentially back out tracks - all or nothing, so it lack's some important versatility. Well worth the price, though. Perfect for a first timer.Intsrtuctions are microscopic and not well considereded for a beginning unit. Also, it didn't mention that it doesn't come with a power supply.
Boss RC-1 Loop Station
.I used an RC-3 for the longest time in my acoustic gigs until it finally stopped working. Seeing as I never needed the rhythm tracks or the tap tempo features it offered, I opted for the RC-1. I brought one home from a local music store and started practicing with it. I was happy with the operation and ease of use - until it started acting up. Once and a while, the loop being played back would just stop mid-phrase, as if I had hit the pedal to stop it. Whoa, I couldn't have that, especially for use in a live performance, so I returned it and got another one. I rehearsed with the new one and all seemed okay - until the night of the gig. Wouldn't you know it, right in the middle of a solo, the playback just randomly stopped. And this was the replacement unit. So either the store had a bad batch of RC-1 units delivered or the quality of Boss has really gone downhill. Either way, this unit is going back. I'll have to do more research as to what will be a more dependable pedal. Don't buy the RC-1 if you really need to rely on it for a gig. I think this pedal is engineered more for bedroom practice rather than live performance.
Boss RC-1 Loop Station
.Simple to operate. Tap it once and you are recording. Tap it again and you are overdubbing. A double-tap gets you out of dubbing mode and into play mode. Enjoy.
