A++ product! I'm using this T5Z, in a stunning molasses finish, for jazz. Position 2 sounds like a full Gibson arch top while position 4 sounds like a ES 355 (which was a former axe I used for Carlton, Ritenour, Benson-like sounds; yeah I'm dating myself). The small footprint and lightweight design are a pleasure for those of us that don't want to strap 7+ pounds of curly maple ash around our neck. Such transparent design I believe allows us to focus on tones and playing rather than accommodating our style and tone to a specific form (I.e. ergonomics). I'm using medium flat wound strings.

Unlike the full T5, it seems the body sensor pickup on the Z is a waste (Chaylor is positioning this product as a 335 substitute, but I don't see 335 users wanting acoustic tones). Speaking of which this Z will never sub for my 714 nor 414 LTD. Not even close.

Fit and finish are museum quality. Yeah the smallish body size won't truly low-frequency-resonate like a true fat body arch top, but enough freqs are resident to crank up the low end control so the extra cavity isn't needed. One suggestion for a future design upgrade would be to bevel the top wood where the arm rests, however, I have to believe this might impinge upon needed cavity space. The price of this guitar is interesting: yeah it's worth the price in terms of the whole package, as a buyer is buying innovation and leading edge design, but I have to believe Chaylor's margins are delightful (but their R&D seems second to none).

Regardless of ramblings, this is a GREAT instrument!!
