Product Features

Fender Champ 5D1 Model Tube Guitar Amplifier (1955), made in Fullerton, California, serial # 8162, tweed fabric covering finish. The classic "home" amp in any configuration, the Fender Champ is as simple as it gets but still one of the all-time great amplifier designs. This 1955 model is one of the last with the older style back-mounted panel with a single volume knob, not as loud as later '50's examples but equally toneful.Height is 10 7/8 in. (27.6 cm.), 12 in. (30.5 cm.) width, and 7 1/4 in. (18.4 cm.) in depth at deepest point. This 1955 Champ remains in very nice original condition overall-recently serviced with just a new a 3-prong plug and new power tube (pre-amp and rectifier still period) and new repro handle but all else original. Shows typical scuffing and dirt to the tweed covering but no excessive wear. The original Jensen speaker is intact; the date code is 18th week of 1954. Made and signed on the masking tape by Julia in March 1955, this lovely little amp is still fine sounding and very tasteful until cranked, then it snarls away. Overall Excellent - Condition.
