Product Features
In overall very good to excellent original condition with minimal wear, especially for it's age. Marked inside "K95 418". Great for playing acoustic or electric, this old Kay features all original hardware and electronics. The height-adjustable "Jimmy Reed" pickup with volume and tone controls sounds great, Kluson tuners adjust smoothly & easily, original tuner buttons are a bit shrunken but still solid.
Plays well with good action & neck angle (I'm guessing it was reset at some point), & frets are in excellent shape. Ebony fretboard with pearl dots. The patina on the classic sunburst spruce top and Kay-style "tiger-striped" grain pattern on back and sides looks great with the bound body and neck (real celluloid binding - not the cheap painted-on stuff you often see on these). The distinctive metal Kay headstock logo along with the stylishly retro ivory-colored knobs & pick guard add to the cool vintage vibe.
Body is 10.5" wide and 2.75" deep at the edge, neck scale about 14" - overall length about 27".
Includes fully functional vintage heavy chipboard case in excellent shape, with thick felt lining, hinged accessory compartment, and brass tag from the old Zapf's Music Store in Philadelphia. (interesting factoid: Zapf's is now gone, but apparently became online dealer Music 123, if my sources are correct)
Thanks for looking!
