Because of one especially physically bothersome joint in my left hand I have been exploring various brands of 8 gauge sets of strings and I have found these to be the best. They are not insufferably wimpy like the other brands in this gauge. They offer a bit more resistance that let's me play with a decent sense of authority while giving me the advantages of super light strings: easy bending and overall less tension. And they sound better than the other brands in the super light category. I am getting a good, clean Tele sound for country and I am not crippling my fingers. .I've used sets with an .008 first string for years. Easy on the fingers for chording and so much better for bending on leads so you can make your notes more expressive. I've used Ernie Balls, D'Addario and others but on my Stratocaster, Fenders are the best. I change before every gig as any strings for me lose their brightness and are worn by the frets from bending which makes them OK for practice after a gig, but I put on fresh ones before the next gig. Despite the size, it's a very rare occurrence to break a string during a performance. I've used the bullets, but I can't find them any more so now I use these. They are probably not a good choice for a heavy handed rhythm player, but if you want great tone that can be played with finesse, these are great.

.I've been struggling to play barre chords - I usually get a clean sound from 4 or five strings but a buzz or deadening from the other 1 or 2. The lighter weight strings make a big difference. Now I can usually get a clean note from all 6 strings because they're easier to hold down. Also seems like I can play longer too for the same reason.
They do have a brighter tone than the heavier weight strings. That's easily adjusted with the tone controls on my Strat or EQ on the amp.

on the pressure you put on your fingers.
These strings help. Clapton plays a
short scale acoustic for this reason and BB King recommended to Dusty to give his fingers
a break and he did.
