When I saw this amp, I had to have one, no extra junk to get in my way. I have had a Hot Rod Deluxe for many years, never liked or used the Drive Channel. First impression, Sounded darker then expected with EQ set at 5. Amp sounds good as expected with out pedals. Can't find a pedal that doesn't sound great with this amp. Used several Wampler pedals, overdrive pedals, delay, Chorus, Boss ME-70 etc. Tried all 9 of my guitars with positive results. I'm a Strat guy, but I think my ES 339 and EVH guitars really shine through this amp. My favorite combo, ES 339 with Wampler Plexi Drive, the amps Boost takes this pedal to a cool place. Very nice amp! Negitives for me, Amp breaks up quickly with humbuckers, loud amp for home use, fold in covering by a skrew.

.This was a great amp and Michael Landau made it better. If you like tones that you would normally hear from Clapton, Dire Straits, Hendrix, and a host of other clean yet punchy sounding tracks, this amp does a good job. The 2 twelve inch Celestion Speakers and 60 watts of power it is well suited for large or small rooms. It really sounds good with single coil pickup guitars. And as advertised, it is very pedal friendly.

.I've had this amp for about a month now. It has not gigged yet and I haven't even played it for more than an hour, each sitting, so I cannot speak for long-term reliability yet.

So far, it's a really great amp. If you're looking for 'that Fender clean' sound, this amp delivers. Great sound right out of the box. It is a bit heavy, but it delivers 60 watts of clean headroom. I play mostly clean jazz, pop, R&B now, and the clarity I get is amazing. Even jazz chords on the 'inside four' have clarity and are very vocal. It scares me how close, if not equal, this amp sounds to my boutique amps.

I have read some bad reviews of all the Hot Rod series amps, so I am prepared to roll tubes or have the amp serviced, if necessary. However, in being fair to Fender, some of the problems that I've read about Fender amps, I have also read about some very high-priced boutique amps as well. If you ride any amp long and hard enough and bounce it around gigging (even if you have a great case), components can get damaged and fail. If you don't believe me, go to the boutique forums and see the discussions.

Regarding easy-of-use: I find it very easy to dial in the tones I need, especially dialing the amount of mids that I need or don't need. I think this is a great accomplishment for Fender. Don't underestimate the importance of easy tone controls. I have played, and own, boutique amps where there is a huge learning curve for simply using the tone pots. Many times, you have to spend hours in a boutique forum just to figure out how the tones pots really work for that amp because the makers don't want to give up too information about their 'design secrets.' With the Fender, bass covers bass, mids cover mids, and treble covers treble. There was no learning curve. However, I did call Fender about the presence control to ask how they 'do' presence, and to be honest, I think the phone Rep. didn't even know how they did it exactly and what frequencies their presence covers. .I have been using Mesa heads and cabinets for a number of years and really like the sound and build quality. These take up much stage space so I was looking for a Mesa combo when I heard about the Fender Hot Rod DeVille ML. This is a great amp and a great value. It has a big sound and in a small package. I had a 4x10 regular DeVille many years ago and this is a substantial improvement. I like that it has 2 channels that are slightly different rather than a clean and OD. This allows for more variation in sound with the use of pedals.

.This amp is in a performance studio and is also used for live gigs. Everyone that uses the amp really speaks highly of the tone, power, natural compression and diversity of sound. This amp can fill almost any reasonable room without a PA helping. Finally it can accommodate almost any style of music you like. The amp has been very reliable.

.The amp was badly packaged . Its footswitch , paperwork and amp cover were all loose in the back of the amp and ripped its speaker cords from there solder connections so it was DOA.Had to have them resoldered . Other than that , I love the amp. A Deville with two clean channels and a boost . Very cool .

.I ordered this amp before even trying one based on the you tube video's. I just ran it through several hours of everything from SRV to Malmsteen with all different types of pedals and all I can say is this is the best Fender amp I have ever heard or played , a huge thank you to ML ! I have owned an early hot rod deville and the new ML model is a whole different amp all together. Channel one is pure fender and the bright switch will help any fender tone purist dial in the best of any fender amp that I have heard. Channel two with the boost is where things get interesting , you can swear there is EL34's in the amp , the high's are bright and chimmy and the lows have that marshall thud when you pick the string. The second 1/4 inch jack just adds a touch of warmth to either channel ( which I did not see demoed in any video from fender and should have been) I have a wide collection of pedal and everyone of them sounded amazing ,something I have never experienced out of one amp and I have owned very high end amps over the last 30 years. This is the perfect amp for practice or playing live. The amp is loud but you can still have your sound at lower volumes as well. The amp does have a little weight to it ( 62 lbs ) but is way more compact than having to carry a 2x12 cab and a 100 watt head ( you know what I mean if you gig a lot) Do yourself a favor and get one....... you will be amazed !
