My neighbor had trouble getting his Villager in tune, so I brought it home for a look. Just a weak battery in the tuner. So I used the opportunity to compare his Villager to my Applause AE35. Both have that beautiful jangly high end. The Villager has a stronger bottom end than the Applause with its lychrachord back, especially plugged in. Both have reasonable action for a 12 string, though both will give you calluses in a matter of minutes. Overall I liked the Villager for tone, and the Applause for general industuctability. I consider the Villager a reasonable, though not amazing, value in a 12 string. So I would definitely consider the Villager alongside the slightly cheaper Applause and slightly more expensive Seagull (acoustic electric).

.I am not a big fan of ordering guitars sight unseen. However I have smaller hands and after some research I found this model to have the narrowest neck in the price range. I took the chance and I have to admit I am quite pleased.

I spent a couple of hours playing around with tunings until I settled on a half step down which sounded the best on the one I received, "jangly" yet smooth. Standard tuning was just a touch too sharp for my taste.

The neck is smooth, easy to play, feels just like my Strat and Tele and this guitar can be loud if I get to it.

.This guitar sounds as good as much more expensive 12 string acoustics. Good electronics make tuning easy. Great feeling fairly thin neck, easy to play and fast for a 12. Very cool retro look. this re-issue looks and sounds like the quality guitars being made back in the 1960's.

.Fell into the category of "I did not need it but had to have". It is a great inexpensive 12 with a beautiful tone and finish. Fun to play.

.Been playing for many years as a hobby and very occasional rehearsals with bands. Very good guitar all around. The headstock is horrendous, period. If you can live with that, go ahead. Because of it, it is very hard to find hard cases for it. Tje EPIPHONE Dreadnought guitar will fit the Fender Villager like a glove, though. Besides this one, the Epi Jumbo and Emperor hard cases will also accommodate the Peppa Pig headstock. Tuning is not 100% stable, but does the job. Very comfortable neck, considering it is a 12, and I get compliments on the sound. If you haven't played a 12, try it. I never went back to 6 strings, which now sound dull to me. Besides, if you don't have a very full singing voice, the 12 sound is a great help to avoid your performance sounding thin.

.As stated all is well---except I haven't been able to find a case for the "villager" guitar.
