Product Features

Throughout a long career that started with hardcore punk and flourished first with Sunny Day Real Estate and then the Foo Fighters, there has really only been one main instrument for melodic yet hard-hitting bassist Nate Mendel-his 1971 Precision. Fender now brings you the Nate Mendel P Bass, modeled after his beloved, battle-hardened instrument.

The Nate Mendel P Bass shares the same subtly idiosyncratic and distinctive features as the original, with special body contours, extra-slim neck and nut width, a lightly worn Candy Apple Red finish with a black pickguard, a powerful Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound split single-coil pickup, Fender Hi-Mass Bridge bridge for rock-solid sustain and stability, and Mendel's signature on the headstock. It also comes with a spare neck plate engraved with a special hybrid Foo Fighters/Fender logo and a deluxe gig bag.

This is a very nice sounding and playing P Bass. The only complaint I have is that the bass comes with Schaller strap buttons installed on the bass and the mating parts that attach to your strap are not included.

.It had been a long time since I owned a P bass and started looking for one a few weeks. I am glad I chose this bass and mine is light and resonant. I really like the lacquer finish on this bass and it really lets it breath. The neck is thinner than a lot of P basses I have played but is substantial has a very good feel. The pickup is great and fender has done a decent job with their Leo Quan replacement bridge. My other bass has a Leo Quan and while it is more substantial the fender version is close and is an improvement over the vintage fender bridges found on the made in Mexico and classic series basses. I do like the upgraded pickup and electronics work well with no noise and pots are smooth. I would definitely recommend taking a look at this bass and consider if it you are looking for P bass with a smaller neck like I was.
