First let me say that I do not own this instrument but have logged hours on one.
You will need serious skills and a guitar tool set to make this play right.
For the money, you could do worse, however it has many short comings.
My biggest complaint are the pick up's. They are total junk. Ceramic junk.
It is unthinkable Fender would turn this guitar loose on the public with such poor pick up's.
They must themselves think poorly of this piece as they have done their very best to hide
the fact the pup's are ceramic. Not to mention MF's super sly ploy to NOT include the country of origin.
The wood is decent. The feel of the neck could be much better. I found it clunky.
Of course the frets were a disaster, and needed immediate attention. Leveling and tang were horrible.
The tuning machines are of the lowest quality, and slip and major backlash is to be expected.
Now if your the type that likes to think that putting quality parts on say...a Squire is worth it , this
may be a good buy for you. I however believe that major upgrades should be an option , not mandatory.
The kiddies will no doubt like it, but us older pro's that own Fender and Gibson guitars that were made great and didnt cost a fortune will scoff at this lousy import. Once again proving PRS is the only great guitar maker left for great value and superior performance.WMIC even does a decent job with the SE series. Find a used Yamaha TRB series bass and forget about this piece.

.The body wood is nice, I was expecting a 3 piece body but this one appears to be one slab. It required a neck set up - not unexpected. The midrange tone pot would spin and move up and down. Upon examination, I found the tabs that hold the pot together had never been crimped down - how did this make it through assembly and QC in Mexico? Repaired. The volume pot is a linear pot as opposed to what it should have been - an audio taper (logarithmic) - this leaves all audible volume adjustment confined to approximately the last 15% of rotation. I'll be contacting StewMac and replacing this as well. Once set up, it plays well. All issues are Fender's, not Custom Guitar's Friend's.
