Let's face it. Harmonicas are consumable instruments. They're only going to last so long before one of the reeds goes bad. Yes, I know that Hohner's MS series has replaceable reeds, and I've tried that, but for the difference in price it's not work it. So the quest for an inexpensive, decent harp is always hanging out there. When I saw this harp advertised, with the Fender logo on it, I thought, let's give it a try.First of all, it's made in China. It compares favorably to the Hohner Blues Bender, at about 60% of the price. I tried the key of C. Out of the box it was in tune, tone was decent. Seems airtight. Notes bend OK. I tried it side by side with the Blues Bender, and can't tell much of a difference in sound or playability. This harp is definitely better than the Hohner Hot Metal harps I've had for the same price.
There are some differences. The cover plates for the Fender are a bit deeper, so theoretically you'd expect a slightly bigger tone. I didn't hear a difference. The holes for the Fender are as wide as those for the Blues Bender, but those of the BB are slightly taller. The Fender has more of a gap in the corners of the cover plates, but that doesn't seem to affect playability.
So I'm going to take this to a couple of gigs to see if the reeds blow out too quickly. On the other hand, I've bought a Golden Melody that had a bad 6 blow hole out of the box, and have had Special 20's blow out a reed after just a couple gigs. And don't even get me started on Lee Oskars.
Overall I would give this harp a 4 out of 5 and recommend it for beginners, backup and practice. It may get upgraded to gig after playing it for awhile.

.Decided to try these as I like Fender products and the price is way less than the Hohners I usually buy.
I bought an A and G. The tone is somewhat comparable to higher cost harmonicas but I can hear some improvement playing my higher end harmonicas so no, not an equal but still good.The G seems to be more full and rich than the A. Time will tell as harmonicas have limited life spans how long these will last before losing tone etc.
For the money saved and home use, these are fine and sound great. Harmonicas have become very expensive and these are a great deal and provide useful tone and note bending etc for way less. If I played live (which I do not), I would use my Golden Melodies or other high end which I own and cost 4 times as much but these do the job fine for my uses. Also a great item for starter players until sure one wants to invest more later.

.I needed a harmonica for a sound track. I needed one in the key of A. The harmonica is at a good price point for a major brand and it comes with a cleaning cloth and a case. If you need a harmonica for a specific song, or need, make sure you know which key to buy. Do some research for your need. The harmonica sounds good for a basic instrument and it seems to made of quality material. I would expect nothing less from Fender. No regrets and I would recommend it for the novice or experienced.

.Just got 2 of these today, one in Bb and one in A to have back ups to my Special 20 Bb and my Bushman A and Blues Harp A (both have a little age on them) have only played these Fenders for about a half hour each, but so far, NO complaints. All holes blow and draw like they should and the tone if it's not right on is definitely close enough. Maybe not as airtight as a higher priced GOOD harp, but not bad IMO. Bending isn't too bad no problems on hole 1 or 2 - so far have only been able to get one bend out of 3 and 4 though on either harp, but i'm sure I will - holes 5-10 are fine, have not practiced any over blows yet want to break them in easy to be honest. in short - I like these - maybe I got lucky, who knows, but I have had NONE of the problems I have seen mentioned on some other reviews (dead holes leaky etc) - In summary, yes - these are fine to learn on and I would say they are fine for a back-up or ones to keep in the car. For a low cost harp - you could do a lot worse. I will update if in a few weeks they have turned into leaky, dead holed squawking monstrosities, but I don't see that happening

.I picked up a few of these in various keys because I was looking to spare my Hohner Special 20s all the wear from usage at rehearsals. I figured they would at least be sufficient for that. They have a middling tone, but you can get by at rehearsal with them. I would certainly never use them at a gig. The problem is that, even as a rehearsal instrument, they don't last long at all. They make you worker harder at bending and drawing notes, which might have been considered a plus to keep your chops in shape if they had more staying power. They develop problems quickly (dead notes, sour notes), so considering you'd have to replace them so frequently it's still best to spend a little more for something to rehearse with. I'm not sure why Fender decided to put their name on these, but it does no credit to the brand name.
