I got very lucky and purchased the last red paisley flames they had for the '08 holiday season. This guitar rocks from Muddy Waters blues to the Elvis stuff James Burton played and beyond to ZZ Top(Billy Gibbons plays a tele too). The lace sensor pickups produce the nicest tones. The S1 button gives an extra burst of tone on demand. Fit, finish and setup upon arrival was excellent. The truck trek across the country in winter weather required a truss rod adjustment. This brings me to the only con about the guitar. The truss rod is adjusted by a phillips head screw at the body end of the neck, also half hidden by the body, which means you have to loosen the neck screws and raise the neck for access. Access to the adjustment screw is also hindered by the neck pickup.I love they way it looks and how I look playing it. I love the tones produced from the lace sensors and S1 button. Fast easy neck, I got the pearl tuning heads and they look fantastic. I love the 5 way switch. I am selling my '91 Am Std Strat after getting this guitar because this does everything that does and even more. Highly recommend, zero buyers remorse here.

.I recently purchased one of these gorgeous instruments from Burton himself, and I am much more than pleased. The 5-way Strat-o-Tele lace sensor pickups make it sing like an angel and scream like a demon. This guitar is crazy versatile, allowing for a southern twang that will make Willie Nelson jealous or a breakdown so heavy that every metal head within 10 miles will come see what's up.
The neck on this guitar leaves nothing to be desired. The round neck is very reminiscent of an acoustic guitar (which I enjoy particularly) and the maple fretboard plays smoother than silk. The tuning machines are top notch, as well. No amount of harsh strumming or fierce bending will even nudge the tuning of this guitar.
Overall, the world-class workmanship, dumbfounding versatility, and spectacular performance of this guitar, make it worthy of any great musician.

.This is a solid guitar and you really can't go wrong. I'm not a huge fan of vintage frets. It isn't a flaw with the guitar but it is something to consider if you are used to bigger frets (which most people seem to prefer these days).

Also, I was hoping the pick ups would provide a more wide range of sounds. Overall, they are solid but they are pretty "clean" sounding. Not the same as the lace sensor pick ups that were used in the clapton strat. Again, not a flaw but these pick ups seem to resist distortion. But it is a tele, so that is to be expected, I guess. Overall, a great guitar. Played great right out of the box...

.Fender Telecaster Artist Series James Burton in Red paisley flames, maple neck, gold hardware, strato-tele controls, S-1 knob. Picked this axe up here and it was sent prompty and perfectly setup. THe sound is to die for. With this tele I can sound like Clapton, Keith Richards, or the man himself - James Burton. THe maple neck and medium frets are smooth and comfortable. The red flame over black finish was flawless. They must have spent extra time on these babies. Every tele lover should have one of these babies. Highly recommended.

.I first saw it in blue flames in Hong Kong last year but decided against it. I saw it again last month in red flames just like the one james used in the UK last May. It is stunning, great pick ups, action and sound. I would recommend to anyone

.I've had this guitar for about 15 months. I play in a country band and this guitar does it all. The tone is amazing and I like the strat/tele switching. It's 2 guitars in one!!!!!!! It sounds great through my Fender Blues Deville 4x10 amp. The guitar has the twang, sustain and total tone control!!

.I run this guitar straight to a Fender DeVille, the tone is the best. I play classic rock and country the only effect I use is a chorus. The five way switch and the three pick ups give you many choices.

.This axe sounds great as others have noted. Is a little darker sounding than a regular tele but it is a great rich tone. OK here is the real scoop after I got it I thought why no middle pickup sound according to the marketing literature. Then I thought well is it was me I would give the middle sound with the S-1 switch engaged. Lo and behold it was there. Then i downloaded the wiring diagram and there it was in b&w - an undocumented feature. Nice going Fender!!

.Lightest guitar I've ever owned which is a big plus when doing 5 hour gigs.

.this guitar is one of the best, if not the best guitar i ever played in my life! it's very smooth, fast and comfortable to play. i never want to put it down! the 3 pickups,s-1 switch and 5 way switch give you lots of different tones to choose from. mine is pearl white and it looks great. i love it! i'm very happy i bought one. it's a little expensive, but you get what you pay for! if you have a chance to play one, please do...you'll love it too!
