I purchased this extension speaker to add some bottom end to my Carvin Vintage 16. The cabinet sounds great and has added a great deal of tone to the amp. The closed back design is solid and the tweed covering is nicely done. I've also used this cabinet with a Fender Super Champ XD which comes stock with a 10" speaker. The Hot Rod Deluxe enclosure gives the Super Champ a great deal more perceived volume and puts it's tone on par with way more expensive amps. I'm very impressed with this cabinet.

.I got this a cab a couple weeks ago to add to my Blues jr. Since The BJ doesn't have a ext speaker jack (yet) I plugged the cab into the BJ after disconnecting the BJ amp speaker. It took the boxy sound away from the BJ. Sounds pretty damn good so far. Looks great. I will soon get a ext speaker jack installed in the BJ so I can play thru both speakers at the same time. I'm also considering replacing the HRD amp I sold a while ago. I think it's a good fit for both of them. Was a little spooked hearing about everyone changing the speaker. This speaker sounds good so far...

.I laugh at some of the other reviewers...I mean how can someone rate this cab a 4+ and say they replaced the speakers straight away...makes no sense. I think guitar people are compulsive tinkerers...it's part of the fun. I think the speakers were chosen correctly by the manufacturer..YMMV. Perfect compliment to my BDRI played through a 2010 PRS SASNF...PUUUURRRRFECT TONE TO MY EAR...of course with the correct settings...Every guitar/pickups/setup/playing style will require it's own settings to make it perfect, but I promise you, that perfect tone is there.

.I have been playing my Fender Hot Rod for years, since 1999, I play with a rock/pop/blues band and this extra cabinet really makes a HUGH diff. I can't believe I waited so long to get it, suggestion- Don't set it on below the amp in a stack formation, set it on the other side of the stage or room and the sound is clearer and you can really tell the diff between the open back amp and the closed back ext cab. .Boost Up Your Fender Blues Deluxe add the extension speaker. It not only great sound, but it will add more bottom and tone to your amp.Its light and not a problem to set up for Gigs. I use a on stage Amp stand and set the extension speaker under the amp leaning back against the lower part of the stand. look great on stage and perfect Tweed match.
I recommend this Fender Speaker Cabinet.

I wasn't terribly impressed with the Fender Hot Rod Rod Deluxe tone, too thin and treble for my taste. I bought the amp, sound unheard, from a local store that was going out of business. Adding the cabinet seemed to thicken the tone, giving it more mids and bass. Not sure exactly how this happened since the speakers are the same. In my opinion, if you are going to play the Hot Rod Deluxe, you need this cabinet.

.I've been an owner of a very well-used hot rod deluxe for like 5 years. I gig with it at least twice a week. For the money, it can't be beat (once you replace the awful groove tubes). It can go toe to toe with much more expensive (or vintage) amps, as far as volume--with respectable tone. But it doesn't come close in punch or low end. I figured this cab might do the trick. And it sure did. HOWEVER, I had to replace the awful celestion speaker, first. I threw in a peavey sheffield 1230 I had laying around and it really brought out this cab's low end. The celestion just added pure lower-mid mud to my tone. Speaker swap resulted in a FAR more useful cab. After replacing the speaker, the cab does exactly as advertised. Why fender decided to go through all the trouble of putting these cabs out and using such a horrible speaker? We will never know. Buy one, I hear the current stock is the last they're producing. But replace the speaker--immediately.

.I read a lot of mixed reviews on this extension cab and I ended up buying it because I really wanted one that was made for my fender hot rod deluxe. I decided to trust fender and see how it sounded. I don't totally hate the sound but I really wish they had put a different speaker in it. I am looking to replace it now although I haven't decided with what yet. There is not enough mids on the speaker in the extension cab... it seems like its either all bass (which doesn't sound good on this speaker) or it is all treble which is really sharp to my ears (some call it crisp). Anyway if you are playing with a band once you add the extension cab there is so much punch that only the first part of your note breaks through.. if you turn it up loud enough to be heard you are way louder than everyone else in your band.

.Well hello there. This is what I've done to get the sound I like from my Hot Rod Deluxe II setup: first I replaced the combo's Special Eminence speaker with a Celestion Vintage 30. Big improvement - it sounds like the newer HRDs have a quality speaker already installed, so this may no longer be necessary.

Next I bought this extension cabinet. Again, big improvement. Far more balanced now from top to bottom, with tight, full bass. It really smooths out the rough edges, and provides a larger and deeper sound. The extension cabinet has transformed the HRD. Sonically it's now classy and big. Also a significant cosmetic improvement. The combo and the extension cabinet look great stacked.

In my opinion the extension cabinet is almost a must. Start out with the combo, but seriously consider adding this extension cabinet down the line.

This Hot Rod Deluxe setup now sounds pretty sophisticated, whether it's playing clean or being driven hard with drive/distortion. I'm impressed.

This cab is exactly what I needed to add a little more punch to my Hot Rod Deluxe III. I've seen a few comments about how this cab has a mismatched speaker for the Hot Rod amp but this is not the case with my amp. My Hot Rod Deluxe III comes with a stock Celestion speaker as does the cab. I do think the Hot Rod I and II's were stocked with Eminence speakers which might present a voicing problem but it sounds amazing with the III series. I've also used my Super Champ XD through this cab not to get more volume (which it also does) but to get that 12" sound. All in all, it is an excellent cabinet for a very reasonable price. If you ever find your Hot Rod Deluxe III sounding a little thin, pick up this cabinet and you will feel the bass response through the floor. I have never had my amp above 4 while connected to the cab. Low volume will never be a complaint!
