Product Features

Bassists have loved the signature Geddy Lee Jazz Bass for years. The new U.S.A. Geddy Lee Jazz Bass is a new version that combines the specs and features of Lee' three favorite basses”two Fender Custom Shop versions of his signature model and the original sleek black ™72 Jazz Bass that Rush' revered bassist/vocalist has riffed away on in front of millions of devoted fans worldwide and on many a mega-selling album. The neck has a thicker custom profile, topped by a maple fingerboard with elegant white binding and white pearloid block inlays. For enormous tone that crackles with life and bristles with the energy, its two vintage-style single-coil Jazz Bass pickups are specially wound and voiced to sound like those on Lee' prized 1972 original, and a Geddy Lee signature High-Mass bridge provides rock-solid intonation.

A Greatest Hits Instrument
Lee's new signature bass blends the best features of his two Custom Shop models with those of his original ™72 J Bass®.

Custom "C" Neck Shape
A thicker "C" profile imparts a more substantial feel to the slim and comfortable J Bass® neck.

Geddy Lee High-Mass Bridge
Specially designed with direct input from the acclaimed Rush bassist, the High-Mass bridge on this bass has a cool contemporary look. It also has a lot of metal, which means it has a lot of mass for rock-solid sustain, intonation and tuning stability.

White Binding and Inlays
White appointments, including sleek pearloid block inlays, instill elegance into this awesomely energetic instrument.

Custom Voiced Pickups
A pair of American Vintage ™70s Lee signature pickups provides plenty of punch and clarity along with genuine vintage Fender vibe.

Special Headstock Signature
Lee's signature the back of the headstock commemorates the lasting legacy of one of rock 'n' roll's most versatile and technical bassists.

Now that I have performed a few times with this bass, I feel confident to report that the USA Geddy Lee Signature Jazz Bass is a solidly built instrument with superior tone, a comfortable feel, and an appearance that sets it apart on stage. I am most impressed with the tonal quality at every knob setting. I have owned many basses and have never been satisfied with the sound produced with the tone knob turned down. This bass is different. It has a clear, musical, mellowness that is not at all muddy. Equally impressive is the neck. The binding on the neck covers the ends of the frets completely resulting in a buttery smooth playing experience. While it maybe a bit thicker than the neck on the Geddy Lee import, it is still a thin neck. It seems to widen and flatten near the body in a different way than most jazz necks that I have played giving a solid, comfortable feel at the upper register. The one thing that really makes this bass stand out on stage is the creamy block inlay on the maple neck. It looks fantastic when it catches the light bring a visual life to the neck, much like the pearloid pick guard does to the gloss-black body. Sound quality, playability, feel, and appearance are all at the top of Fender's game with the USA Geddy Lee Signature Jazz Bass. I am completely satisfied and think you will be too.

.The USA Geddy Lee Jazz bass is a great bass. The quality is top-notch and you would think it's a Custom Shop bass or at least an American Vintage model for much more money. The neck is quite a bit chunkier than the import Geddy models and chunkier than the Am Standard basses. The neck also seems a bit wider due to the binding, but this could be an illusion. The back of the neck feels as if it has a thin layer of nitro on it but it really is oiled. Its fast-playing and not sticky, but doesn't feel like an oiled Musicman, for comparison. Overall I'd say it has a vintage '70s feel with a 9.5 in radius and larger frets, which is a plus. The tone is great and the pickups are pretty quiet. The range is great and what you'd expect from a J-bass. Mine came in at about 9.6 pounds, which is the high-end of what I like. The Geddy bridge seems an improvement over the Bad-A II, also

.I haven't played the bass in awhile and I own a Fender 1980 Precision Bass. I wanted to start playing again, and when I saw this Fender Geddy Lee Signature Jazz Bass I just had to play this bass. This bass plays really smooth and is really fun to play. I have played a few other similarly priced bass guitars and none felt as good as bad the great feel as this Fender. The sound of the Bass is crisp and tone control when used seems to dial in a Geddy like sound that sounds so nice. Dial it down for a deeper bass sound. This Guitar is made extremely well and stays in tune. I love this bass.

I wondered what the big difference would be between a Mexican Fender Geddy Lee Jazz and an American made one. The minute I unpacked this beauty, I noticed it was still in tune. Very well set up and built in America by Fender Masters. This is hands down the nicest bass I've ever owned. The neck is smooth as butter and just feels fast, and the sustain is awesome, too. I've been thumping on it for about a week now, and I have yet to tune it at all. The craftsmanship is top notch .Definitely worth spending a few hundred more to get the American Made one. You won't be sorry.
