Excellent tone, meaning the highs are smooth and clear, but they will scream if overdriven. The lows are clear with the punch that's classique. All I had to do was adjust the neck pick-up, change strings and lower the action. That's common on all guitars. I've read reviews strongly criticising this guitar. Just remember, not all equipment fits all people.
Solid selector switch, nice full neck, I purchased the new metallic sunbursed finish, and it is certainly a show piece.
Quality is fantastic. It shall last me for years. I won't spend more on an American Standard because this is on par.

.Brought this issue to Custom Guitars Friend and was told this problem is common with rosewood fret boards. That is was a fungus growing in the wood. I couldn't understand how a brand new guitar could be inspected and leave the factory with a 14" streak. Was not happy with the response I got. And will not be ordering any more guitars online or any other equipment from Custom Guitars Friend.

.Very satisfied with my Strat purchase from Custom Guitars Friend. The guitar is beautiful, plays well, and was shipped to me 2 days early. Best part was I didn't even have to pay sales tax. Will buy from again.

.Usually, you get reviews of a just bought instrument while the honeymoons phase is on, and sometimes those aren't too accurate due to buyers remorse, or over happiness in the instrument without long term usage.

MY MiM standard is now 6 yrs old and is just as playable, maybe more than when it was new. The neck is the DEAL on these guitars. I have multiple strats and this one is the only "import" yet plays better than it's American cousins by a long shot.

Mine has the rose neck and it is a thing of beauty play wise. The ceramic pickups aren't everyones taste, but they suit me just fine.

It's arctic white, now going yellow which I was surprised at, but I live in Hawaii and play outdoors alot.

I've checked out this guitar from stem to stern and have found no glaring construction faults or QC items, if it had them, they caught and corrected them.

I would recommend this to beginners, and pro's alike for a guitar that is not going to break the banks, plays and more importantly sounds as stratty as any other and at the present pre 2007 pricing, you cannot go wrong with this guitar.

Fit finish and craftmanship is no worse than my American made guitars, I do know that components are slightly less quality to meet price point, however, after countless hours of play, everything is solid, and tight. Simply a great guitar at a great price if you want a strat and aren't put off by it's origin.

.Good guitar. I love the feel of the neck...like butter. Guitar can create an enormous array of sounds (neck position is my fav.). I got the black and expected a dull looking guitar prior to delivery, but it looks much better in person. Guitar is not heavy so no back pain during long shows. If I had the money (YES) I would buy an American, but I didn't. If this tells you anything, I currently have the money for an american made but instead of spending all that money i'm going to purchase a standard mexican telecaster and put the extra money towards effects. 11 years of guitar experience, good guitar.
This guitar was perfect for my needs. With the three single coils and five way selector, you can get any sound you want (ANY).
I have a 2008 model, so I know about the quality of this instrument. My strat has some problems that have just now begun to arise, but in it's defense I have put the guitar through hell. Punishment: dropped down an entire flight of stairs (more than once unprotected by case), left in the tour van for hours upon hours (through extreme heat and near freezing temperatures), been subjected to a fair amount of water, and even been pumbled by our PA speakers. Problems: Neck pickup does not always function, input jack has a short. I still gave it an eight because it has been subjected to more punishment than most guitars will ever see and it's still kickin.
I did get mine in 2008 and they were slightly cheaper, but for the new price you're still getting a great guitar. If you're looking for a versatile guitar this will do the trick: blues, rock, country, indie, jazz, jam, soul , anything experimental, and if you know how to use effects even metal (although the action is not as low as on a heavy metal guitar). I have not even come close to taking care of mine, and almost four years later i'm having only a few problems out of it. TOUGH

.I thing the fender strat is a great guitar for the price. I had a peavey at one time and the strat was so much better. I would highly recommend the Fender strat. I got the candy apple and it is georgous.

.I have a few Mexican Strats... 1999, 2003, 2007, and finally a 2012. They are all quality instruments, but the necks on the newer ones are absolutely to die for... you could strap a crummy Squier body on one of these necks and be happy as a clam. I also own one American made Strat, and anyone who claims there is a huge quality difference is just being a snob or maybe being an elitist... I'll play Mexican and Japanese Strats for the rest of my life and have no regrets. Also at this price point, you don't have to worry when you take it out to gig (no museum glass cases at my house, all my guitars are for playing, and I have small children). Fender's Mexico plant has really come into their own in the past few years. No QC or cosmetic problems to speak of on any of mine.

.WARNING: DO NOT GET THIS GUITAR IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A HIGH GAIN SOUND. Don't get me wrong. This is a very high quality guitar. It has a great tone, and it is so fun to play. But if you are looking for a grungy, loud, whiny tone, this is not for you. This is good for blues, jazz and, lighter rock. So, its a great buy if its capabilities suit you. Don't try to push it out of its comfort zone.
