I will start by saying I was a little scetched out about buying an instrument at this price point with it being a MIM tele but man I'm so glad I did this thing isIs just a dream to play!! I've been playing for 25 years plus I've had countless high end guitars that have ranged anywhere from 1000-3200 and this guitar is no exception I've had this guitar now for a little over a month I play the guitar through an axe fx 2 I can't remember the last time I've had this much fun!!You can get some great jazz tones out of this guitar I've found it to be an awesome blues guitar and if your looking for a modern sound it's also there. If your your a little unsure about spending this kind of money on a MIM guitar rest assure this guitar has great build quality, amazing tone,and with a little intonation adjustment it's pretty playable right out of the box. I have owned this guitar for about 10 years now. I re-wired mine with a 5 way switch and a coil tap volume knob. (My wiring diagram is from a PRS) The pickups are wired such that they can easily be split to become 4 single coils. This adds some strat and classic tele sounds. I play it with a Vox amp and really could not be happier with the sounds I can get.
The bridge saddles could be a better quality, but otherwise I am very satisfied with the fit and finish. The tuners are a real plus, just like a P bass.
A great looking guitar, plays well, lots of variety in the sound. Neck is still true as an arrow after a decade.

.You want to buy a Fender at a reasonable price for a little more "woody" of a feel and sound. This might be it.
I search for a few weeks for a guitar I could use for blues/jazz. I looked at lower end Gretch, Epiphone, all semi-hollow bodys. I finally selected this tele. I was a little nervous because of the made in Mexico stigma, but I was quite suprised. It's a great guitar for the price.
Maybe it's hit or miss with these Mexican Fenders but mine seems pretty well built. It's more fun to play than my American Strat. Nice maple fingerboard, great fit and finish, no flaws I can find. I just had to set the intonation and I was good. The pickups are probably not the best HB's in the world but after playing around with the heights, I put them back where they were, a little low, and I like them there. The action is set just a hair higher than my strat but again, it plays well and for know I will leave that alone as well. I am pleasantly suprised by this guitar's quality.
I don't know how you could argue that this is not a very good guitar for the price. I think my best advice is that once you get all off your gear setup properly for this guitar, you will love it.

.I have played guitar for over 13 years now and I've been searching for a semi-hollow body to add to my arsenal for almost a year's time. I have played everything from the big Epiphone and Gibson axes to Paul Reed Smith. As a matter of fact, after playing one of these, I chose it over the PRS Custom Semi-Hollow SE. The neck is buttery smooth, love the thin profile. I can play rock, country, blues, and bend the strings to the moon and back with this axe. It's so versatile that this has become the guitar I will play ALL the time. I can switch between music genres at the drop of a hat, and everything I play sounds good.
I played it in the store through a tiny Fender amp and it sounded great. When I got home and rigged it up to my Crate GTX212 (120 W), I was amazed. If you wanted to upgrade, you could purchase new pickups, but to be honest, the ones it comes with are hot already. Whether played clean or overdriven, this guitar has it all. It was also nice to get a semi-hollow and a Tele all in one guitar - that doesn't disappoint.

.When I first picked this guitar up I was surprise by its thin neck. I play contemporary gospel with a Jazz sound and this guitar has given me a sound that I have been looking for for years. Its almost like being in a dream world. The neck is superb and the action is so smooth it almost makes me cry when I play it. I think every blues and Jazz guitarist should own one.

.Let me begin by saying that this is a great guitar. It does what its supposed to (namely, bring the ROCK) and it does it well. I've owned my Thinline for about two years now, and it's been my ONLY guitar for about 23 of those months. Some argue that the tone is a mixture of Fender and Gibson tones, but in my opinion I don't hear much of either. The Thinline can be very warm, even with new strings on its neck pickup, and never, ever, gets any real kind of Fender twang. It's meaty even when its not playing anything heavy, which makes it a near perfect rhythm guitar in my book. If you want an idea of what you're getting tone-wise, listen to "Cath" by Death Cab for Cutie. That's exactly what this puppy sounds like with overdrive.Getting to the meat of the review- the pickups are hot, be prepared to be rolling back your volume for anything that isn't balls out. I went and found an old Fender amp knob with numbers on it that fits the straight pots and that minor change has made a huge difference in dialing in tones. Likewise, I would also suggest switching out the stock 250 K pots for 500 K pots. Before the switch I had a huge problem cutting through a mix, as the tone could be a little muddy, but the 500's seemingly take a blanket off of the pickups. Lastly, do yourself a favor and get the rid of the little plastic cap on the pickup selector, mine was dead after two weeks. Cap covers for standard strats fit tighter and get the job done. I feel that these few things need to be brought to the attention of a potential buyer. This really is a great instrument, but it lacks the capstone aspects that really set foreign instruments apart from American made ones. A few tweaks and this guitar is golden. Last notes- It's way prettier in person, I almost cried when it received. Also, it's rock solid, it stays in tune for longer than most guitars and takes to gigging really well. I've played two hour shows with the thing with only one or two re-tunings throughout. It's a solid piece of sapient rock and roll manwood. Go ahead, spill beer on it. It likes beer.

. I have several guitars... actually to many. My Thinline is really something special the more I play it the more I like it. I constantly will shift between 3 or 4 guitars when I practice but when I pick up the Thinline it is hard to put down and switch to something else. BTW mine is a Mexican assembled Thinline. As far as I am concerned you can play any style of music with this guitar. If I could only have one guitar I think I would go with this one.
I'll be brief. I have 4 Telecasters and each one is different, but the Thinline w/ the 2 humbuckers is my favorite. I love the simplicity of the setup. 1 volume, 1 tone and a 3 way switch. Each position on the 3 way switch gives you a distinctly different sound which you can further alter with your tone knob on the guitar or the knobs on your amp. I can get more treble out of my humbucker Thinline than my other Telecasters that all have single coils. My preference is to play with the P/U selector switch in the middle utilizing both humbuckers. But I also love the sounds when using either the bridge or the neck P/U. Great sound, great feel, great guitar.
I have the natural with the white pearl pickguard. Beautiful and flawless overall.
You could spend lots more money on lots of different guitars and not touch the fidelity of a 72 re-issue thinline.

.I bought the 2 tone Ash 72 RI. It sounds nice and woody, much different sounding than my Les Paul and Stratocaster. I left a review when I first got it and I'm still amazed at the sounds I can get out of it. It travels to all my gigs with me. The Fender Mex factory knocked one out of the ball park with this guitar.
2 tone, 2 pick ups, too nice
I've had mine for a couple of years and not a problem.
I'm sure I could sell this to anyone who played my guitar.

. Buy this IF: You need versatility and your play spans more than one genre.
Dont BUY IF: You are a trying to get a super-chunky sound.
Great looks. Lightweight. Fast neck. Different sound (Semi-Hollow).
Minor issues. Need to upgrade pots & caps if you want to have better humbucker range/tone. Tone knobs may become loose.
Great guitar for the price. Would be hard finding more versatile guitar for the money.

.Smooth playability, well constructed. If looking for a less "jangly" tone I suggest a set of flat-wound .12 or lighter. I have the sunburst model and am thinking about replacing the pick guard with a more subdued color than the white one. I bought mine used and though she came without the Allan wrenches and no backpack straps for the gig bag, I am very happy. Now I only need to find the perfect clean amp. Thanks again MF.
