I like it a lot and hope to learn to play it. Till I do, the bass players I expect to record in the studio with it, in general, have preferred it over the Squier.
So I bought this bass to have in my studio for visiting bass players. It has some nice, but pretty standard, features compared to other offerings for the money. 4 knob, active Phatt II bass adj, etc. The agathis body and look for the price was what drew me to this Ibanez. My son, a bass player, recommended the Ibanez name. I also checked out the Squier equivalent (at 2lbs heavier). I liked the Squier as well but it was definitely a different play than the Ibanez. I tested them both thru the Pignose Hog 30w portable bass amp. Both were adjustable for nice deep bass as well as punchy slap bass. The action on the Squier was a bit higher than the Ibanez, so less string buzzing (at my low skill level) but also more energy to play it. After 30 minutes the Ibanez still felt good where the Squier was wearing down my shoulder and fingers.
Excellent for the price, at the normal price, I'd say it's "okay".
So far so good, no complaints. The knobs are a weak link but for the $$ I think they will be fine. I love the feel of it tho it is a bit smaller and thinner than the Squier I checked it against. (I'm guessing that is where the extra weight in the Squier came from.)

Bass players I had check it out said the neck has fast and smooth action. The Squier left them less than impressed in comparison.
Again, for the sale price it is a great value.

.Overall, I like the bass! Personally, I like the brown sunburst finish. The sound is well balanced and I really enjoy the light weight of this bass. As I mentioned, its NOT a higher end bass by any means and will not compare to one. But, given that it can be used as it is quite adequately, I am impressed that for the price Ibanez can put a decent product in the hands of many bassists.

I have (and have had) Ibanez basses and this one is a keeper! (I recently had an SR 300 and had nothing but problems with it. This bass while cheaper, is far and away a better choice!)
While not a big fan of active basses, this little guy sounds halfway decent! This bass has the bass boost control that can be way more than is needed. Suffice to say I leave it rolled off and use the amp and my outboard effects to control the sound.
The p/j pickups are quite adequate and produce a usable sound that can be set to any style.

Lightweight and the neck dimensions enable smooth playability.

Neck adjustment was required as the neck was set up improperly causing considerable fret buzz. Once properly adjusted, the bass played and sounded fine. (quality control issues?)
My main issue is the frets not being dressed properly. The edges are somewhat rough and can be slightly disconcerting when moving your hand up and down the neck. I assume that this being a lower end model, it doesn't get the quality control as the more expensive models. Some filing of the fret edges may be in order.

Overall, the bass seems to be readily usable to both pro and novice alike once it is set up properly.
Very good value for the price! While not a "higher end" product, this bass does the job and is comfortable-- no weight issues here! Very lightweight bass!

.This bass is fantastic for the price. I originally bought it just to abuse it on some of our heavy songs, but after playing with it a bit I quickly changed my mind. The low end frequncy is great, the sound is great, the control is great. The body is alright, I think all the money I paid for was in the pickups. The neck needed adjusting and the frets need filed, and the corners of the nut were sharp and needed filing. It's not the best I have ever played, but I will give 5 stars based on what you get for the price. Money well spent.

.The bass was great, nice finish. However, mine had a LOT of fret buzz and needed adjusting. It still played well and was a perfect first bass.
