Product Features

Rock, metal, and EDM have been rubbing against one another for decades, but now that friction is fueling a blaze of creativity with musical categorization and genre distinction disappearing in the embers. Ibanez, once again, has turned convention on its ear to answer the needs of the modern guitarist: The Ibanez RG with a built-in/detachable mini kaoss pad 2.

The RGKP6 crosses a legendary RG model with a built-in/detachable mini kaoss pad 2, resulting in a hybrid instrument with endless opportunities to incorporate the exhilarating effects of electronic music into your performance.

A mini kaoss pad 2 back panel is integrated into the body of this RG style guitar for quick, secure docking. Positioned just below the guitars volume control, the mini kaoss pad 2 lies in easy reach of the picking hand for realtime manipulation of the touch pad interface, which features 100 effect programs, a synthesizer, built-in MP3 player and a digital recorder to capture performances. Plug your headphones in (1/8" jack) and rock while the rest of the house sleeps!

The RGKP6 features a slim maple Wizard III neck for quick, comfortable playing action and a mahogany body for a warm, rich tone. Electronics include a specifically designed IBZ-KP double blade pickup and a built-in distortion circuit with its own on/off switch and gain/ tone controls.

Built-in Distortion
The RGKP6 comes with onboard high-gain distortion, accessible at the flip of a switch. Fire it up with or without the mini kaoss pad 2S in line to get you to that certain sound you're looking for.

Korg mini kaoss pad 2S
The RGKP6 comes equipped with Korg's latest Kaoss introduction-the mini kaoss pad 2S, loaded with 100 dynamic KAOSS effects.

Headphone Output Jack
Play when and where you want, using the 1/8" stereo headphone jack located next to the main output.

I saw one of these in a Guitar Center today, and spent a good few hours playing it. It will definitely be my next purchase. As someone who loves unique guitars and the band Muse, I have always wanted a kaoss pad infused guitar. Unfortunately, I don't have the $6500 to get a Manson MB-1, but this guitar will do just fine until then. It isn't much on the looks side, but I had more fun playing this guitar than any other guitar I've picked up. The effects selection for the kaoss pad is extensive and has great variety. The built in distortion circuit is not the greatest, but for a built in pedal, it is hard to complain. Not to mention, this guitar is CHEAP for what you are getting. With a nice set up, and a new set of strings, I could see this being my go-to guitar for the foreseeable future. My only other issue is the lack of a tone control, but the other features make this easy to forgive. I really hope this is the start of a new generation of guitars, because I have wanted this for a while.

.I play a wonderfully diverse amount of material, and I envisioned this as a new color to add to an already broad pallet. I was disappointed.

The Guitar: this is the worst part. The guitar was just plain awful; extremely rough fret edges, uneven fret tops caused fretting out all over the fingerboard, and the worst sounding pickup ever put in an electric guitar. Ugg!

The built in distortion: Only does one sound: pseudo-metal. If you want a little TS style overdrive, Marshall crunch, or anything else, you won't get it. And, the Metal sound is very canned and artificial.

The Kaoss pad: kinda cool, but ultimately, out of 100 presets, they kind of all sounded alike ... or at least fell into one of only about three categories (Swhooshy, buzzy, and choppy). These sounds would get very old in a hurry.

Mine went back. I'm grateful to Custom Guitars Friend for the easy returns policy. As a side note, mine has already been returned (even though not sold as such) ... so I'm not the only one who decided it was not a "keeper".

.I love this guitar. I think that people who give this guitar bad reviews are people who pick it up and try to play with it for ten minutes not understanding how the electronics work. I was really surprised that mine didn't need any kind of set up when I got it. Mine has low action, plays easy, and stays in tune. The Kaoss pad has a lot of cool effects to play with. It comes with 100 effects built in. A lot of them do sound like similar variations of the other ones, but there are some killer sounds in there. I think that it's cool that it comes with a headphone jack so you can practice with headphones. It's cool that it comes with a built in distortion, but I honestly think the built in distortion sounds pretty bad. The guitar sounds amazing though playing through my Peavey Vyper amp with my amps distortion. I hope that Ibanez will make other expanded Kaoss pads that I can buy with different effects for my guitar someday.

Anyways, bottom line is that this is a very innovative guitar at an amazing price.

.So, the replacement for my 1st RGKP6 arrived today. It was another Level 1 open box item supposed to be in mint condition. I plugged it in and what came out of my amp sounded like a dozen eggs being fried. back it goes. No more for me, thanks.

.It might be a good guitar, but because of their shoddy inspection of my open box item, i won't know for about another 2 weeks.

.Nicely built guitar for the price. Lots of usable effects makes this instrument great for beginners to experienced musicians looking for inspiration.

.This guitar is a good start, meaning I hope they expand on this concept and give us a second generation guitar that completes what they have started. I have no complaints about the guitar other than it just leaves me wanting another humbucker with better tone and I would like to be able to put my I phone into the guitar along with a Kaoss pad. Other than wanting what doesn't exist, I'm happy with it. It's comfortable to play and with a little fine tuning it sounds pretty good, I like its clean tone, but the distortion goes crazy way too fast for me. I was worried that it wouldn't be able to do clean or bluesy, but it does manage to do it, and now I can load backing tracks and all kinds of music onto a micro sd card, grab a pair of headphones (do not use cheap headphones or you may be disappointed) and just sit in my chair and jam away, finally someone (I banez) got it right, this is a fun casual guitar that has something for everyone. The neck is great, clean tones good, distortion is maybe ok, I turn it down to bare minimum, and the Kaoss pad and headphones out are so appreciated that it just leaves me wanting more!!!

.the price was great
Ibanez RGKP6 with Korg Mini Kaoss Pad 2 Electric Guitar Black
.you just can't put it down, you think your done playing but you just have to try one more effect and you are on it for another hour, sooo much fun!
Ibanez RGKP6 with Korg Mini Kaoss Pad 2 Electric Guitar Black
.Its fun to play, but it's going to take some serious practice before I take it onstage. The built in distortion doesn't sound great, but it is workable. The biggest problem I had is some of the effects from the kaoss pad are really loud compared to the guitar sounds.
