Product Features

For 25 years the SR has given bass players a modern alternative. Embraced by bassists over the decades, the iconic series continues to excite with its smooth, fast neck, lightweight body and perfectly matched electronics.

The SR370E is a handsome 4-string bass designed for the experienced player. The bass starts with an immaculately finished maple body. Other features include a sturdy 5-piece maple/rosewood SR4 neck, a rosewood fretboard, and an Accu-cast B120 bridge for superior string vibration transfer and precise intonation. Cosmo Black hardware adds a hint of stealth.
At the heart of the SR370E’s electronics are two PowerSpan Dual Coil pickups. Their stainless pole pieces
offer higher output, clarity, and fullness than any in the SR370’s class. Accessed by the 3-way “Power Tap” switch, these proprietary pickups offer a choice of three tonal personalities: A rich humbucker sound, a pure single-coil sound, or an enhanced single coil sound— fattened by lows from the humbucker pickups. Add the ability to dial in precise tone preferences via the Ibanez Custom 3-band EQ, and the SR370E is a musical chameleon.

I had another fretless that was absolutely gorgeous, but I just never connected with it for a variety of reasons, nor did I really care for the tone of it, so I sold it and went looking for a replacement. I own two other Ibanez basses that I love, so picking up this Ibanez fretless was a no brainer, and I'm SO glad I did. The tone is incredible and it plays like absolute butter. It comes with roundwound strings, which can be hard on the neck, so as soon as I got it I switched to a set of Ernie Ball flats and never looked back. This thing is absolutely amazing. You can get any tone you want from it, and the pickups have this great grind to them that I absolutely love.

Having a lined neck is extremely important to me since I'm not one of these savant type players that can play without fret lines, so that was another huge selling point for me.

The only drawback with this bass is that it seems to be really susceptible to external electronic noise, but that's only a problem if you're playing next to a source of noise, like a computer. Moving away from it clears it up just fine, but it can be an issue. This is more of an issue when the pickups are in single coil or hybrid mode. The humbucker mode suppresses it a lot, but not entirely depending on how close you are to the noise source.

The finish is absolutely gorgeous, the tuners are solid, the neck is thin and fast, and in my opinion there's not a better fretless out there at this price point. This thing is an absolute steal. You really can't go wrong with this one.
