I'm a tone snob. I've also been financially challenged my whole life. Due to lack of money I research every purchase six ways to Sunday. Over the years I've scraped enough money to buy 3 tube amps, a Marshall JCM800, an Ampeg VTX60 and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. I mention this because of the profound effect tube amps have on the tone of a guitar.
I've always cut corners on the guitars. I love the sound of Gibsons but prefer the feel of Strats so, I bought a used Squire Strat - I gutted it and installed Gibson Custom Shop 57 Classic pick-ups. It sounds very good.
I bought a second Squire and also modded it, yet stayed with Strat pick-ups. It's also a great sounding guitar with that sweet Fender tone.
So, each one of these modded guitars cost me about 750 to 800 clams.

How does the Ibanez Prestige Green Burst stack up?
The neck is insanely comfortable and fast and remember this is a 7 string guitar.
The craftsmanship is brilliant.
The note sustain is inspiring.
The intonation was perfect right out of the box - all the way to the 24th fret. What? Yes ... I was ****ing stunned.
The quality of the wood used on the green burst, and the finishes are an absolute work of art.

The RG752 feels lighter than my Strats.
The bridge and whammy bar look and function flawlessly. In use, the tuning remains true throughout.

Now the sound... There are 2 DiMarzio PAF passive pick-ups installed. These are very similar in design to the Gibson Classic 57s. The unique thing here is you have a 5 way switch which offers you five beautiful tones.

As I mentioned earlier, I'm a tone snob. I can say, without hesitation, that the tones this guitar gives you can proudly stand in for any tone you'll get on a Gibson or Start - and then some!

Yes, Gibsons and Strats are unique, as are the various types of pick-ups they offer and I love them all. My point here is the Prestige PAFs cover both the Strat and Gibson sounds and are every bit as breathtaking and inspiring in their own unique way.
