This is the first eight string I have ever played, and I am confident it will be the best. Fits, Feels, and Sounds like a fine tuned machine! Clean; warm, and beautiful sounding range of tones, with piano like sustain. Disortion; Fat, and punchy, with growl, and great heavy sound. Comfortable in all areas of the neck. Not to mention the way she looks. Even in such low tuning ( I drop tune, while a half step down) C#,G#,C#,G#,C# Etc. I am extremely happy with this guitar, and I believe anyone who plays it will say the same.

.Amazing! Iv never owned an 8 string before but man this is good. I play both hard rock and clean and this can do both so well. the clean sounds like a gibson or prs with amazing depth and sustain. the lower strings can even double as a bass. Once you kick in the distortion it turns in to a rock machine! When it came in the box, the only things wrong with it were one of the volume knobs was a little wobbly ( it comes with an alan wrench so you can easily fix that in less that 5 seconds) and there was a little fret buzz on the lowest string, because a .74 gauge is too small for a 26.5" scale..so just buy a .80 from D'ddario and youre set! I tune to F,C,F,Bb,Eb,Ab,C,F...but it can easily hand drop E and F# standard too. All in all this is one of the best 8 string guitars I have ever heard, and its close to 1000-2000 dolores cheaper than most custom models. So get at it and buy one!

.This is the best quality guitar I have ever owned, tied only with the B.C. Rich double neck Bich that I traded away for it. Yes, that's right, this Schecter Hellraiser is so amazing that I actually traded a double neck guitar for it.

I had always wanted to eventually get a seven and/or eight string guitar and I was in my local music store the other day when I saw this one. I was blown away by the aesthetics of this instrument, from the quilted maple top to the abalone binding and ornate inlays, it is a beautiful work of art. I decided to pick it up and give it a try and the Schecter Hellraiser turned out to be one of the best electric guitars I have ever played. After some serious thought I came back to the store the very next day and traded in my double neck for it. (They are both roughly the same quality and value, but I felt I would get more use out of an eight string than a double neck.)

Comfort/playability:
The neck is super thin and you can move around on it very quickly and comfortably. The intonation is perfect and the action is extremely low and yet there is no fret buzz, making for extreme comfort and lightning fast playability. The cutaways are very deep and there isn't a big, blocky neck joint like almost all electric guitars have, so there is no discomfort whatsoever in trying to reach the higher frets. The body is tapered on the front face of the guitar and has a cutout along the back edge so that it conforms to your body as you play it.

Electronics:
The EMG active pickups are an excellent choice for this guitar. They are not the best pickups in the world of course, but they still sound great and have very good sustain. They are designed for metal but I find that they emit tones great for many other genres. For example, I have discovered that this guitar is surprising well suited for playing blues and country solos.

The only downside about the electronic configuration of this guitar is that when switching between pickups you can hear a click through your amp. It is very faint but still audible. Most guitars have this problem and on many the click is much louder than the one the Hellraiser makes, so normally I wouldn't bother addressing this flaw. However I feel the need to because it is possible to eliminate this click noise, and many high end electric guitars do not make any sound when switching between pickups. I feel like due to the price of this guitar, it should be one of the ones that does not make a clicking sound. Aside from that, I have no complaints other about the electronics.

Hardware:
The tuners are great, they turn smoothly and don't slip. The frets are all perfectly rounded, there is no overhang and no sharp edges. The knobs have really good grip on them and you can turn them quickly with only a flick of your pinky finger if need be, much easier than many other knobs. Even the strap buttons on this guitar are worth mentioning; they are a different shape than all the other strap buttons I've seen and due to their unique shape it is not only easier to put a strap on them, it is also more difficult for the strap to come off by accident (a really great innovation in my opinion).

The last thing I'd like to bring up is the bridge. The guitar I have is equipped with a Floyd Rose floating bridge and locking nut, whereas normally this model has a Hipshot hardtail bridge. The Floyd Rose is, of course, a fantastic bridge, it is my personal favorite bridge in existence. The combination of eight strings, 24 frets, and a Floyd Rose allows for so many musical possibilities on this instrument. So I would advise anyone wanting to buy the guitar to save up a little more money and buy one with a Floyd Rose instead of a Hipshot bridge, it will be well worth it.

All in all the eight string Schecter Hellraiser is an outstanding instrument. It is comfortable to hold, sounds fantastic and plays amazingly well.
