I bought this guitar a few months ago based on the countless rave reviews here on musiciansfriend. The last electric guitar I owned was an Ibanez JS1200. I've wanted so much to like this guitar, but it really is just not a great guitar for playing leads. It works well enough for rhythm, but it's got an absolutely tremendous amount of drag as a result of the glossy finish on the neck and the massive frets. I have no idea what people are talking about when they say this guitar can stand up to Ibanez prestige and Jackson soloists. This guitar is nowhere near as playable as my old Ibanez as far as playing leads.

Apart from the play ability issues, the tone is also fairly lousy. Comparing it to my previous guitar is almost like comparing line 6 to marshall or mesa. It's a very flat, undynamic tone that won't respond much to different picking technique. Switching to the neck pickup hardly alters the tone of the guitar whatsoever.

I realize this review won't mean a thing with all the other people on here ranting and raving, but I strongly urge anyone considering buying this guitar to play one first. I played on several years ago and wasn't impressed at all. The reviews on here made me think I had to just be remember it wrong. It's exactly as I remember. Buyer beware.

.a awesome guitar, very solid feeling. i play in a band and this guitar is just great. the pickups are amazing in how you can change from double coil to single coil in one push/pull of a knob. they also have a very good tone and are great for playing heavy styles of music. overall, this guitar is very good for the price and i would definitely buy another one if something happened to it.

.I have had my Schecter Hellraiser c 1 for just over 3 weeks, this guitar plays so good and seems to get better as I play. All guitars have an amount of break in as they get played, but this Guitar played great right out of the box. The First thing I noticed when I got her out of the box was the quality and the supreme workman ship of this Guitar. There at so many high end upgrades on this Guitar I can't believe I got it for the price. The EMG pickups are the best thing I have ever heard. It's my First time using active pickups and this is amazing pickup to here, I like to play a lot of clean sounds and I was bowed over by the incredible sound of the clean side. With the push pull coil tap on this Guitar you have anything you want in tone.
The neck fells great to me, a little like my strat but with a new feel, I love the jumbo frats on the beautiful ross wood fret board. Look I could go on and on about how well made and how great this Guitar plays, I think the best advice to give you is don't pass up on this Guitar because you think it's just a heavy metal or slasher only. Trust me I play blues and old time rock, and some jazz this Guitar can do what you want with style and finesse, with a sound you just have to here. And the black cherry is so beautiful, I plan on getting a black one with Floyd Rose, I love my new Guitar she is so sexy I can't keep my hands off her.

This is an amazing guitar. However, the EMG pickups need to be ran through a good amp. A lot of people believe you can just plug this guitar into any amp and get great tone. C'mon man. Any guitarist worth their salt knows that the amp colors your tone. If you play through a tube amp you will be amazed and then this guitar will match anything that cost 3x as much.

I own a Gibson, Ibanez and a Jackson besides this guitar and this is the one I like to play and I am most comfortable playing.

.All in all, this guitar is amazing; I can not believe I bought a guitar this nice for under a grand!
This guitar is absolutely insane! I have owned ErnieBall Musicman Petrucci series, Ibanez Prestige, Gibson Les Paul Standard, Jackson, and ESP upper-end guitars. This Shecter is every bit as good, if not better than any of these I have mentioned.

.if you want the best metal sound out of this guitar combine it with either a line 6 amp OR a marshall.
The emg pickups are amazing. they provide a nice clear crunch when you use distortion. instead of it sounding like static it sounds both clear and distorted. also the way the neck joins the body is just about the most comfortable thing youll ever put your hand on. unlike a lot of other guitars ive played this guitar allows you to perfectly reach every single one of the 24 fret on every string.

.This is the third Schecter guitar i bought in the last 4 months. The first was an impulse buy when I was trying out a VOX amp. A silver guitar on the stand next to me. it looked cool. Picked it up and played it. Nice guitar, I said to myself at a great price, A SGR 7 string. Bought. Before that I was only Fender and Epiphone guitars. I checked out Schecter's other guitars, and discovered active pickups and was hooked. I love the tone and power active pickup put out. I bought a C-1 platinum FR active pickups. Really great guitar and just bought the Hellerasier C-1 with active pickups. A power house of the guitar. Black cherry finish, beautiful looking with great tone and sustain. No wonder the Metal players love this guitar. I am looking for the 4th and last for my collection, a Blackjack sls hells gate, with the duncan active pickups. A very fast guitar. slim style.

.As mentioned about, great features, solid hardware, nice neck, terrific tone, and all at a great price for the performance. The only negative I can come up with is the lack of colors offered for the Hellraiser line. It would be nice to see something outside white, black, and black cherry.
EMG pickups are terrfic; the coil spiltting allows for thick heavy to thin chimy tones. The locking tuners are reliable.
This purchase was my 4th Schecter Hellraiser, and for a good reason. They are the most reliable guitars I own. I play them excusively when I'm performing live.
I like Hellraisers better than my more expensive guitars. The Hellraisers sound every bit as good, and they feel even better, and are more reliable as far as staying in tune, minimal neck warping, hardware and wiring failures, etc.

.Its amazing! I used to play ibanez I had 3 370dx decked out with emgs and a peavey valve king stack but lost them to pawn shops so I've been playing my brothers strat for the past year. I decided to treat my self to nice so obgot this monster and I have no regrets! Its amazing!

.Overall a wonderful instrument and difinitely something to buy if you can afford it. Now I want to buy the same guitar but in the Floyd Rose model. Definitely will buy a schecter again. Gotta cough up some more cash for the FR hellraiser model ASAP! -Stay Metal!
Beautiful Binding and inlays the EMG's sound great! Fast neck great for my soloing. Very heavy sound good for metal/hard rock. Beautiful quilt redish top! Buying this guitar makes me want to play more. One day I will be Jeff Loomis! And you can take that to the bank!
Good quality plays very nice threw a set of DR 10-46's on it and it plays very well. A must have guitar! Pro quality! Buy if you're into metal! It's not some cheap feeling guitar that claims to be a metal guitar but plays awful. This is the real deal. Go pawn your other cheapo guitars and cough up the dough for this you won't regret it. Jeff Loomis wouldn't make a signature guitar with a bad company. Schecter, you have a happy camper customer here! Rockin and a rollin!
Great value for the money. A lot of other companies make you pay more for less of a guitar. If you're in the market for a good playing quality piece pay that little extra. You get what you pay for! The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra.
